Today we’d like to introduce you to MESBELLE.
Hi MESBELLE, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am Isabella Mireles, I go by Mesbelle.
My artistic name is a symbolic meaning of love because everything that I do is a representation of it.
I’m a currently a visual artist, interior decorator, and entrepreneur born and raised in Mesquite, TX, and pleasant grove area.
By the age of seven I fell in love with the feeling of creating and building my visions to reality. I started as a child actress and teen model till I was 10 with Teatro Dallas and John Casablanca.
At the age of 15 I was working two jobs and started my own business selling custom clothes and printing services around my local area. I would volunteer and go to my local public library all the time to read and watch videos to get experience on improving my skills because I wanted to grow my business and as well take my art more seriously as a self-taught individual.
During that time, I was trying to build a sustainable business. The Covid pandemic came, and I lost everything. I had to close down my shop I was renting in, and sales started going down. I felt very lost and unmotivated… but something inside me felt like I couldn’t give up… I had to keep going even if it had to mean redirecting myself into another idea.
After graduating high school and as well with a dual credit degree, I went straight to furthering my education and invested my time on networking. As a fresh graduate, I struggled at first getting a job in arts and architecture because of my no portfolio experience. But that didn’t overwhelm me; it made me push harder.
I started connecting and marketing for interior designers and architects, to the point that because of my sales skills and branding strategies. I had the eye of catching and creating unique ideas.
It then inspired me to start my own company, which is now an interior design and marketing firm.
Specializing in art deco style, decorative artistry, furnishings, creative directing, and muralism for residential, commercial, and hospitality spaces
By the year 2023, I became the first Latina creative director for Drift Bishop Arts, an event venue and gallery from August through October.
I then started getting recognition for my work and have already done shows with
Latinos Tx Magazine, Dallas Fashion Week, The Statler, and Virgin Hotel. As well collaborations with fashion designers and retail brands such as Azalea Wang, Jessica Simpson and Foot Locker
In 2024, I got recognized by the Deep Ellum Foundation for my work and impact I’ve done in my community. Thank you for their representation. It has open the doors for me to do a pop-up gallery and grand opening for my solo exhibition coming in June 2024.
Because of my entrepreneurship and innovative mindset it has open doors and attracted me beautiful connections and long-lasting friendships as a visual artist and businesswoman, which I’m so grateful for and continue to do
My long-term goal and plan is to keep on growing in the art and architecture industry as a visual artist, entrepreneur, and aspiring architect.
I hope my journey to inspire dedication and creativity into other young women to follow their passions and break through barriers.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wouldn’t say it’s been an easy path, especially at my age. I sometimes used to feel like I didn’t fit in into places because of how I looked and age difference, as well as an ADHD individual. I remember in college I would be the only girl in my design class, but I then realized the support and encouragement I would get from my male professors and father. Till this day, that help me build my confidence in being resilient and respected in a male-dominated field.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is a feeling of fantasy, mind, and emotions
When people look at my work is an expression of destructiveness and imagination
The mediums I use on creating my work of arts is oil, spray paint, and drywall
I would say I’m mostly known for creating an empowerment and culture. Besides the fashion and work I’ve done. The energy and vibe are what’s more important to me because the action of hungry hustle, ambition, and passion attracts. When you know what you can bring to the table, you’re not scared of shining.
What matters most to you?
Diversity.
I feel like we are in a society that sometimes they try to separate us from doing the things we are truly passionate about. I believe when we are not ashamed of showing diversity and equality… That’s what builds a powerful community of unity.
