Today, we’d like to introduce you to Chris Bell.
Hi Chris, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We (Perceived) released our debut EP back in October of 2020 during the covid pandemic. Needless to say, it wasn’t the best time to drop an album.
It was well received but never really gained much traction. After a year of working on our new EP, we’re finally about to release the first single, “Losing Control,” sometime in July. The exact date has not been set, but please subscribe to our YouTube channel, and you’ll be the first to see it.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We’ve been working on this album for a year, so it hasn’t been super smooth sailing. We all work full-time jobs, so it’s been very hard to find the time to get things finished. We’re getting really close, though.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
We’re just an old-school 90’s style rock band. We enjoy being able to get together in a room with each other and just jam. We don’t write our stuff on a computer.
We like to feel everything out in a live setting to see what works. We’re really proud of our first EP but I think we’re even more proud of our new one. In my opinion, it has a lot more peaks and valleys. Discerned EP coming October 2024.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
A lot of people don’t know that I’m the lead singer and drummer for the band. It’s not a very common thing to see, especially live. We don’t play to a click or use any tracks on stage, so what you’re hearing is all us.
Of course, I couldn’t do this without my band. They give me the encouragement and confidence to continue to do what we’re doing. We have a FREE SHOW at Diamond Jim’s Saloon in Arlington, TX, on Saturday, June 22nd. If you’re in the area, come on out.
