Life & Work with Juan Salas

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Juan Salas.

Juan Salas

Hi Juan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my career Producing/ Directing Music Videos, working with Bun B, Rick Ross, & Paul Wall before transitioning to Independent Film. Producing several music videos allowed me to sharpen my story telling skills and prepare for a longer format.

I then ventured into Indie Film. I have written/produced/directed 5 Independent films so far, 4 of which received National Distribution with reputable Companies in Hollywood. In my indie film career, I got to work with the Iconic Dee Wallace (ET, Cujo, Critter, The Hills Have Eyes), Damian Chapa (Blood In Blood Out, Street Fighter), Victor Rivers (The Mask of Zorro), and Meeko Gattuso (HBOs “Euphoria”).

I’m currently in production for my latest film, a sequel to my horror film “House of Dolls” starring Lar Park Lincoln (Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood”).

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are many struggles that come with being an independent filmmaker. There is more than just producing a Film. There is also what happens after. Distribution, Marketing, etc.

In today’s oversaturated streaming market, how do you stand out? These are a few of the struggles along the way. The best way to navigate is to plan ahead and make the best-informed decision based on your situation, as everyone is different.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So far, I am most proud of our “House of Dolls’ Villain design. He is our very own Freddy, Jason, or even Michael Myers.

When we were shopping for our film, a lot of words like “Iconic Look” got thrown around by credible Hollywood Executives, and I couldn’t help but feel proud of this character. I look at all the iconic horror franchises and see ours is no different. The future is definitely exciting.

So, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you before we go? How can they support you?
If anyone wants to support us you can rent/purchase our films “The Devils Ring”, “House of Dolls” on Vudu and iTunes. They can follow our production, “House of Dolls 2,” on Instagram @houseofdolls2025.
