Community Highlights: Meet Ana DeLeon of Ana DeLeon, Broker Associate, REALTOR®

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana DeLeon

Hi Ana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a real estate broker specializing in residential real estate and property management. I help investors who want to own single-family real estate investment but don’t want to be landlords. Most of my clients are looking for their second home but do not want to sell their first home. I help them navigate that process by determining market area rents and educating them option other options like the housing choice voucher program.

I purchased my first home when I was 19 using a USDA Loan Program which offers 100% financing for buyer in rural areas that meet certain income requirements. That program is still available today. It was an awful experience for me because I didn’t know that when we called the agent on the sign, that person represented the seller, not us. We could not understand why they would not return our calls. That agent should have explained that us, as required, but did not. My goal is to make sure that never happens with my clients . I don’t want anyone to have any awful experience like I did and I do that through education, setting expectations and with processes I have developed over the years.

I have been in the business over 10 years now. I had a career in the hospice medical equipment industry for 10 years prior. When I was laid off, a friend suggested that I become a real estate agent and I did not think that sounded like a good idea. He convinced me that our mutual friend who was a successful real estate broker before the crash of ‘09 was getting back in the business and I should work with her. When she left real estate she bought a bar and bike, so I knew her as a business owner but had no idea about the real estate business or investment properties that she had.

After I got my license, I met with her and we decided to partner up to start up New Age Real Estate. She taught me the business of real estate. I taught her how to streamline process, go paperless and set up all of our systems.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There is nothing smooth about real estate. The ups and downs are just part of it. From buyers that really don’t know what they want to sellers that are emotionally attached to their homes. It’s more than just a transaction of buying or selling a home. There is a lot of emotions involved and learning to navigate took some time. Also, I don’t get paid until the deal is completely done. I have had to learn to plan well because I can’t let that get in the way of what’s best for my client. I can’t even tell you how many time a deal does not close, even on closing day, things happen. It’s just crazy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Fifth generation Texan, originally from a small town North of Dallas, currently in Fort Worth, Texas. I am a Broker Associate and a Certified Pricing Strategy Advisor, serving all of DFW. I have been in residential real estate for over 10 years.

For sellers, I offer several options including fix first programs, quick cash offers and private, no showing sales. For buyers, I have an unmatched knowledge of financing options (No down payment, lease to own, seller finance) and creative solutions for a variety of goals.

My goal is to help you reach yours by providing exceptional service through honesty, integrity, experience and expert knowledge.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for networking is to follow up with those you meet at events and schedule one on ones. Finding a personal connection and similar interests, causes you care about and struggles you share is the best way I found. I have had the great privilege of 2 mentors that shared their knowledge with me and it has been invaluable. I was able to work for both of them so choosing a position with someone who is very smart and willing to share the things they know is something I highly recommend.
