Daily Inspiration: Meet Smiz Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Smiz Smith

Hi Smiz, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had a love for Art. All of the Arts as a matter of fact! I began drawing when I was young. I used to watch my Uncle Jay draw, and we’d watch cartoons together. I was a professional dancer for a number of years, and after I retired I became a full-time personal trainer. When the pandemic hit, everything stopped, and like most people, I had a lot of time on my hands. I couldn’t see myself going back to personal training after the pandemic, so I ordered a new sketchbook on Amazon and deciding to focus on Art while we all waited for what was next to come.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My transition back into Art was pretty smooth. I hadn’t given up on drawing, or making Art, so I wasn’t totally out of the loop. The biggest challenge for me was trying to improve faster than I was growing on social media at the time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in the Anime Art style. Anime and Manga started in Japan, and I’ve become a fan of the culture and their love for cartoons (Anime) in Japan. I specialize in the cell shading style of Illustration, and I love to create characters with interesting stories. I was able to set myself apart in the Art space by recording skits based on the “Artist’s Struggle”. These videos helped me connect with other Artists and get eyes on my work.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Feel free to reach out to me via social media or email. I have a Ko-Fi page as well where you can donate to various projects and be featured at the end of every YouTube video I make as a supporter of myself and the Art community.
