Today, we’d like to introduce you to Ciera Jones.
Hi Ciera, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always knew I wanted to be my own boss. I just didn’t know how. I like to do things on my terms, my way. So I knew that, eventually, I would be my boss.
It’s funny how life happens. I started studying the accounting field in 2008, but then I stopped to focus on studying education. I thought I wanted to be a teacher until I became a mom. That changed quickly! I then went into the medical field, where I thought I wanted to be a nurse, but then realized I don’t like blood and needles, so I went into accounting work in the medical field and then on to collections, which, surprisingly, I enjoyed.
I later earned my degree and decided after getting my child’s diagnosis of autism and finding out that I was pregnant with my fourth child that I would stay at home and become my own boss. I started with credit repair and then on to taxes. I was doing these both behind the scenes for a year, and then in 2021, I started helping others publicly, and it took off from there. Word of mouth and social media has helped brown my business so much. I am forever thankful.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is hard. It’s many days when I love it, and then there are days when I’m questioning my purpose. It’s so easy to get caught up on what it’s “supposed” to look like and what it really is.
I struggled with imposter syndrome, overthinking everything and losing some close friends along the way. And it’s tough? But everyone isn’t meant to go along the journey with you, and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean they are a bad person or you’re a bad person.
Everyone’s journey is different. There will be months of overflow of money and opportunities, and then there will be slow months. It’s never easy, but you have to keep your why in front of you at all times and keep God first.
