Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Cannon-Washington
Hi Elizabeth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
“I started Praise Break Texas out of a deep desire to create a space that feels fun and engaging, while still upholding Christian values. I wanted to offer an alternative to the traditional church setting where people can come together, enjoy themselves, and express their faith freely. Additionally, I recognized the incredible talent within our local Christian community and wanted to provide a platform for these artists to showcase their gifts. By organizing these events, we not only celebrate our faith but also support and uplift local talent, creating a vibrant and inspiring community.”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
“Starting Praise Break Texas has certainly had its challenges. One of the initial hurdles was finding venues that aligned with our mission of creating a fun, yet Christ-centered environment. Balancing logistical details like securing funding, promoting events, and ensuring everything runs smoothly can be quite demanding. Another significant challenge has been building awareness and convincing the community of the value and uniqueness of Praise Break Texas. However, despite these obstacles, the positive feedback from attendees and the enthusiasm of local artists have been incredibly encouraging, driving us to overcome these struggles and continue growing this vibrant platform.”
We’ve been impressed with The Praise Break Texas , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
“Starting Praise Break Texas has taught me several valuable lessons, and I’d like to share some advice for those who are just beginning their journey. First, stay true to your vision and values. It’s easy to get swayed by external pressures, but maintaining your core mission will keep you grounded and authentic.
Secondly, build a strong support network. Surround yourself with people who believe in your vision and can offer advice, resources, and encouragement. Collaboration is key; don’t be afraid to reach out to others in your community.
Another important piece of advice is to be patient and persistent. Success doesn’t happen overnight. There will be challenges and setbacks, but each one is an opportunity to learn and grow.
I also wish I had known more about the importance of marketing and promotion. Creating a great event is one thing, but getting the word out and attracting attendees is another. Invest time in learning about effective marketing strategies and use social media to your advantage.
Finally, always seek feedback and be open to improvement. Listening to your community will help you refine your approach and better meet their needs.
Starting out can be daunting, but with passion, perseverance, and a willingness to learn, you can achieve great things.”
