Inspiring Conversations with Irasema of DTX Performance Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Irasema

Hi Irasema, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The DTX Performance dream began in college, well over 10 years ago. Prioritizing academics meant athletics took a back seat for a couple years. I began dabbling in coaching runners and over the years expanded to learn as much as I could and get as much relevant experience as possible. Now, DTX houses athletes of many modalities and offers general fitness as well as sports specific coaching. We have even worked with Olympic Running teams and DISD Football teams.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entrepreneurship is always a roller coaster, from rebranding and staffing to COVID-19, we have faced hurdles along the way. We have had many ups, too. We have remained with our core tenants in mind. Simply put, we practice what we preach. We encourage our athletes to face challenges head on and to acknowledge all the wins – big and small, so we do the same as a business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
DTX Performance Co is no frills, just fitness. We don’t get stuck in any boxes regarding what fitness or movement should look like and instead lead with science and results. We are constantly evolving and encourage our membership to become comfortable with change. We are a teaching gym, meaning we want all our membership to have an understanding of what they are doing and why. While we create the programming for our community, we like to encourage them to think of strategy and efficiency…to be as present as possible.
We offer daily classes, private training, remote training, and sports specific training for individuals and teams. This year we have also officially partnered with RunDallas for the 2024 BMW Dallas Marathon Festival. You can head over to our website dtxperformanceco.com or our IG: @dtxperformanceco for information on how to join us.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I have a history in endurance sports (read: track and field). My early journey in fitness was largely comprised of running and nothing else. While I believe strongly in the benefits of endurance, I also understand the importance of strength training. There is balance in everything. I also was born deaf and use hearing aids so I understand having invisible hurdles in life. This really drives me to guide others on their journeys over personal hurdles, using movement as a vehicle through.
