Exploring Life & Business with Caitlyn Meyer of Wicked Stems

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlyn Meyer

Hi Caitlyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I always knew I had wanted to be in the wedding industry I just wasn’t sure where I would fit in. I graduated college from TWU with a degree in finance and marketing with the intentions of finding a corporate job but always knew I was meant to be a boss babe!

I started dipping my toes in the wedding industry by bartending weddings and working at a local bridal boutique. I became heavily involved in the bridal boutique and could tell I was so close to where I was meant to be.

I absolutely love flowers and with becoming so close with my Brides, I knew I wanted to continue to be apart of their big day. I began creating flower bouquets and arrangements for weddings and just fell in love with the idea that no two pieces will ever be the same. There’s so much beauty in chaos and I thoroughly believe flowers are meant to look natural and whimsical.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s plenty of struggles opening a business, some are small others are huge. Regardless, it’s never easy. What does make it easier is having tons of support from my family & friends. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

The hardest part is nobody is telling you to do anything. Whether that is a task that needs to be done or just a simple reminder to rest your body.

You have to learn when to rest and say no.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I found a passion for florals and taught myself the in’s and outs of crafting together pieces that were not only gorgeous but unique to me.

Wicked Stems is known for the messiness, real, raw and natural look to flowers. Pieces will never be perfect. Our mission statement is to “find beauty in the chaos.”

Not only do I create bouquets and arrangements for weddings but I have found a creative way to preserve florals from special events so people can cherish them forever!

So whether you need a wedding full of flowers, or need to preserve your bouquet from your big day. I can get the job done!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk taking is extremely important to me. If it scares me, then it means it’s worth it! Whether the reward is great or it turns out horrible, either way it is a lesson that I needed to learn.

Risks to everybody can be different from day to day life. I think it is important to not compare whatever risks someone else takes to what you “should” or “shouldn’t” be doing.
