Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanel White.

Chanel White

Chanel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello, and of course! I began my love of photography back in 2015. I didn’t turn it into a business until 2020 because I wanted to take time to learn about my camera and other equipment. I have always been inspired by the arts such as painting, architecture, sculpting, music, dance, and photography. Once I felt that I had enough skill to step out into the world with my talent, I did just that.

Although scared at the reaction that others would have, I released my work, and was not only surprised that so many others enjoyed it as much as I did, but also empowered by the amount of encouragement that I received to keep going in that direction.

I’ve always been self motivated, and self aware of the areas that need improvement. I believe I can be a bit of a perfectionist in that way. Thankfully photography has taught me to step out on my own, and has taught me how to believe in myself, no matter what. I have also learned to not take life too seriously. Life is to be lived, enjoyed, and appreciated.

Photography has allowed me to do just that by giving me the flexibility, and energy to spend time with my family.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it’s been perfectly smooth but I’ve been blessed. As I love to say, as long as there is oxygen flowing throw me, it’s a good day. I believe in the glass half full theory. I have not had many issue within my photography business, and I am so grateful. I have so much that I am aware that I could improve on, as a business woman and photographer, absolutely.

I battle with symptoms of ADHD as well as Trigeminal Neuralgia. Both can be crippling, and yet, I have faith that I will be able to get through this and continue my work. I truly am blessed and I have a great support system, that helps.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a photographer, and I photograph all kinds of art, from families, events, even editorial. I’ve been published with several magazines and newspapers, I’ve also made the cover of one. I would say that I am known for my editing style from what I’ve been told.

Honestly, I’m still learning so much. I am still learning photography lingo, and as a self taught photographer, I’m learning how to use different equipment and techniques to enhance my photography and take my skill to another level.

There are so many talented photographers here in the DFW area, and I am happy to be along side of them. I am quite reserved and I am still building my confidence in my abilities. I am most proud of my ability to grow and stay kind while maintaining a professional life.

I believe that every artist has their own unique style and perspective, and there is so much to learn from each other. I am constantly inspired by the creativity and passion of others, and it motivates me to continue pushing myself and growing as a photographer. Ultimately, I believe that we should all support and uplift each other in our artistic journeys, rather than comparing ourselves to one another.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I adore the vibrant atmosphere of my city, with its rich cultural diversity and multitude of activities to enjoy. The kindness of the people here warms my heart. However, I believe more should be done to support the homeless and mentally ill individuals in our community. It is my wish for everyone to have a safe and secure place to call home. I advocate for women to have autonomy over their bodies and for the protection of children in our city and beyond. There are numerous improvements that I envision for our city, and I hope to see positive changes in the future.
