Rising Stars: Meet Ethan Bouchard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan Bouchard.

Ethan Bouchard

Hi Ethan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was a wee lad living in Memphis TN, whenever I got home from school and finished homework, I HAD to leave the house, it was just part of life at that point for myself and my 5 brothers and sisters. To fill the time, I asked for a video camera and started making “Jackass” videos with my friends. Cut to a few years later, and YouTube goes online, and I’ve been posting comedy sketches to my channel “SliceFury” ever since.

In high-school I took every film class, and upon graduating moved up to Michigan to attend The Motion Picture Institute, where I learned from people that have actually worked on big-time movies!

After that, I continued to make comedy sketches on my YouTube channel, and still going to this day with my goof buddy Bret Crow and others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I created my YouTube channel about 17 years ago, so there definitely has been some ups and downs, a few hiatus’s here and there, and a lot of life lessons. The friends I have always keep me going though, and I really can’t pretend like I would still be doing this if it wasn’t for them encouraging me to keep it up.

I’ve been homeless before, and jobless a few times. I’ve tried to start my shirt printing business, but didn’t get enough support to stay running. To add to that, my emotions were out of which from doing so much and receiving so little for it.

NOW, I’ve got a steady well paying job with benefits, and the SliceFury channel isn’t solely focused on getting views or making money anymore, it’s all about making and immortalizing funny memories with my friends that will last forever.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
STRONG WORK! BAND: This is my band that’s been around for 9 years now. We play Funk-Punk-Rap-Rock music around the DFW in Texas, and I guess people like us! Haha. We have music on all streaming platforms, and our own YouTube channel with extra content, including 17 jam sessions.

SliceFury:
This is my pride and joy, my comedy sketch YouTube channel! I created an account on day 1 of YouTube’s release and have been posting to it ever since. You can truly watch me grow up here, and it makes me happy to know that, even if some of the old stuff is a little embarrassing.

Not Normal Productions:
This is the business name I use when I’m running shows or tournaments. I used to have the largest gathering of Smash Bros. players in Denton Texas for a few years, and am about to start running “The Not Normal Variety Show” again, which is a show I put on that has no limits to its performers, so if you want to show off that juggling act, sign on up! We have room for it. Even one of the writers from Bojack Horseman showed up from out of state to do a comedy set!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Comeradery, Drive, and Leadership. At the end of the day, and I want to do is make and do cool things with friends, BUT without someone to keep everyone and everything in line, EVERYTHING WILL FALL APART. We are here just for fun and memories, but I want them to be done well enough to where even strangers will laugh a bit, or at least exhale sharply out of their noses…
