Today we’d like to introduce you to Briseida Bethancourt.
Hi Briseida, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated from St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio, TX. From a young age, I always aspired to be a lawyer. Initially, I set out to become an entertainment attorney, but I soon realized that my skills in contract drafting, reviewing, and negotiating could greatly benefit entrepreneurs. This realization shifted my focus towards helping business owners navigate their legal needs.
Upon passing the bar, I immediately set up my own law firm. This decision was driven by a refusal to promote me from a contract manager to an attorney in the corporate job I held at that time. With a lot of support and encouragement from influential figures throughout my life, most notably, my mom Neira South, my high school teacher Ms. Carolyn Sandford, and my law school professor Shelly Taylor Page—I embarked on this journey in March 2016 in San Antonio, TX.
Since then, my firm has evolved to represent clients all over the United States in various matters including business law, entertainment law, trademark and copyright issues, and personal injury cases. Embracing my unique personality and approach, I’ve built a practice that stands out from traditional firms. This allows me the flexibility to be true to myself, take care of my daughter, and be present for her.
Currently, I am focused on expanding my reach and continuing to grow my practice by connecting with clients nationwide. My journey has been one of perseverance, passion, and dedication to providing exceptional legal services while balancing my personal and professional life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey to establishing and growing my law firm has not been without its challenges. While the path has been incredibly rewarding, it has also been filled with significant obstacles that have tested my resilience and determination.
One of the earliest struggles was the decision to leave my corporate job and start my own practice. This leap of faith came with the uncertainty of building a client base from scratch and the financial instability that accompanies any new business venture. The lack of promotion in my corporate role was disheartening, but it fueled my determination to create my own opportunities.
Another major challenge was balancing the demands of a growing law firm with my personal life, especially being present for my daughter. Running a business requires long hours and unwavering commitment, but I have always strived to ensure that my professional responsibilities do not overshadow my role as a parent.
Additionally, as a new firm, gaining the trust and recognition in a competitive legal market was an uphill battle. I had to consistently prove my expertise and reliability to potential clients. Networking, marketing, and word-of-mouth referrals played crucial roles in overcoming this hurdle.
Through perseverance, adaptability, and a client-centric approach, I have been able to turn these challenges into learning experiences. They have shaped me into a more resilient and empathetic attorney, dedicated to providing exceptional legal services and growing my practice nationwide.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Living in Dallas, TX, has been an incredible experience for me. What I love most about Dallas is its rich diversity, vibrant culture, and deep history. The city is a melting pot of different cultures and backgrounds, making it a truly dynamic place to live and work. The entertainment options are endless, from world-class museums and theaters to a thriving music and arts scene.
Dallas is a city full of creatives, dreamers, and doers, and the energy here is infectious. I also appreciate the hospitality and warmth of the people. Despite being a fast-paced city, Dallas embraces all that we love about Texas, combining modernity with traditional values.
However, like any city, Dallas has its challenges. The traffic can be quite frustrating at times, making commuting a bit of a hassle. Additionally, being four hours away from my mom, who still resides in San Antonio, can be difficult. I miss the ease of being able to visit her more frequently. Nonetheless, the positives of living in Dallas far outweigh these drawbacks, and I feel fortunate to call this vibrant city my home.
