Today we’d like to introduce you to Tranean Lytello.
Hi Tranean, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This small business owner life started with a battle to find a way to handle my depression that didn’t require daily medication. The funny thing is, I didn’t realize I had a talent for candles until I needed a Secret Santa gift a few years ago. I was living on a VERY tight budget, so the option to buy something wasn’t in the cards at the time. But I had ideas, an Amazon Prime account and a love for candles and food.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wish this journey has been smooth LOL!! It has been a long few years full of frustrations, anxiety, fear of failing and a bunch of tears. I wish I had researched more about what all was needed to start a business, maybe taken a few classes to truly grasp what all I was getting myself into. The biggest struggle has been finding funding. I honestly had no idea the amount of time and planning that went into looking and applying for grants. The next biggest struggle has been just website production. I would definitely recommend having help lol. I can come up with ideas and I know how I want things to look, but the actual process of putting it together….that’s another story lol.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do all kinds of candles, but my absolute favorites….my drink candles! I think my attention to detail helps me to make my drinks look as realistic as possible….at this stage in my progress at least. I think just wanting my customers to have something pretty to look at as well as smells great makes the candle buying process a little more fun!
How do you think about luck?
Oh luck hasn’t played a role at all, it was all God. I pray over my business daily, I pray for my customers, both those that I already have and those I haven’t met yet. The vision for my business, my timelines, my progression…I owe all of it to God, I couldn’t do any of this without him…I tried and failed miserably lol.
