Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Pace
Hi Taylor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey in music started literally from the moment I was born. My parents were, and still are, successful gospel musicians , among other things, so I grew up in a very musical family. I was exposed to all types of music and I played classical and jazz piano as well as played and sang in church while growing up. After I graduated from Howard University with a degree in jazz studies and quickly began playing with national recording artist like Mya, Mario and the gospel group The 7 Sons of Soul. After I moved back to Texas I was introduced to the cover band scene and started playing shows around the metroplex. I was also getting more into production and recording and in 2014 I recorded and produced my first album, “Return Of The Phoenix”. Since then I’ve written/recorded/produced/published hundreds of songs for tv, film, other artist, and myself. I’ve also partnered with the Jordan Kahn Music Company to create the Taylor Pace Orchestra, one of the most successful luxury party bands in the country.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but then again the scenic route never usually is. The biggest struggles have been finding out who I really am and being comfortable enough in myself to be myself no matter what space I’m in. I’m continually learning that my individuality is my Super Power and that is entirely the source of my artistry.
The second biggest struggle is finding out who to trust. It’s a tough lesson to learn but there are definitely some wolves in sheep’s clothing out there. It’s been a tough but great lesson learning how to listen to people to hear what they say and don’t say; and watch what they do and don’t do in learning who you can trust.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a lover and supporter of humanity and a music geek so what I do is try to merge the 2 and make music that makes people better in some way. Whether it’s through writing and recording music, teaching music, performing music I specialize in trying to make people feel good! In my own style I make music about things that are relevant to what I see and experience in life-not cookie cutter flavor of the day stuff. What sets me apart is that I’m an individual as I please and I offer authentic experiences for those that are willing to listen. I don’t try to be someone else but in offering my music I offer something we can all celebrate—this ever-interesting human experience.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’ve found Scientology has helped me tremendously in understanding myself better as well as understanding others around me. I’ve used their free online course so many times I couldn’t count them. This is the link to all of them.
