Conversations with Terrance Barksdale

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Barksdale.

Terrance Barksdale

Hi Terrance, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The idea of starting a branding company was the beginning of it all in 2016. That idea remained simply an idea until 2017. As I’ve already taken so many chances in life, I reasoned, why not try?

Initially, my goal was to develop a brand that could be associated with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. “Get It” Brand the phrase “Get It” ingrained in all of us; whether it’s a lofty goal or something smaller, we all seek to achieve it on a daily basis. Branding is something we do mindlessly. That takes us to elevate things and make them ingrained in people’s thoughts.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
There will be ups and downs in whatever you accomplish, and with that comes jealousy, disloyalty, and hatred.

The key is to maintain your creative flow while a lot of people around you are waiting for you to take a certain action. Dare to be exceptional and dare to be unique. You are only here for as long as you generate the wave before moving on to the next. Be very wary of other people and have faith in yourself.

Thanks. What else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m currently transitioning into the visual performing arts program at UTD. Instead of just being the person who designs and builds brands, I want to focus on the production side of my creativity and serve as an example of how to be unique and authentic, especially in the face of criticism from others.

I’ve reached the stage when creating a visual aid is just as crucial as creating clothing or a hat. However, instead of waiting for someone to visit your page or selling both in the hopes that someone will buy your work, I would like to see live action and focus on giving other creative individuals a platform to have their work viewed.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I really don’t believe in luck too much; it’s more about putting in the work and being different. Put yourself in the right position or space where you can network to get whatever you are trying to do in front of the masses.
