Life & Work with Chris Lacquement of Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Lacquement

Hi Chris, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I learned how to groom as an apprentice in Brownsville Texas. Learning how to groom in a border town made the transition to Dallas very easy for me. I worked as a professional groomer for about 8 years before I opened my mobile pet grooming business. I started Lakewood Mobile Pet Grooming in Dec. 2017 and built that business to 7 vans, generating over 1 million in sales yearly. I opened White Rock Pet Grooming Dec. 2018 because I felt we had a need for a convenient & quality service in the neighborhood and I needed help with overflow from Lakewood Mobile Pet Grooming. I have lived in Lakewood/White Rock area for 10 years and have grown to love the community and have developed many lasting and meaningful relationships during that time with both pets and pet owners through my pet grooming businesses. My promise has always been to offer the best quality service available and to put your pets and their needs over any potential financial gains. I will not overbook the groomers. I will not perform a service that should not be done for a check. I will do what is best for your pet every time. I am a firm believer that when it comes to our four legged companions I must always choose “Humanity Over Vanity.” I personally have over 16 years of grooming experience and grooming businesses have been in my family for 3 generations. My team of 35 groomers, over the span of 6 grooming facilities, has a combined 350 years of grooming experience. As a husband, father, and avid animal lover, I take pride in being able to bring professional grooming services to local neighborhoods and provide a higher level of care and attention to each client. We love caring and connecting with animals and creating everlasting relationships. We provide care for your fur baby as if they were our own, and ensure that they receive the highest quality grooming and service in the industry. We have multiple locations in East Dallas, White Rock Pet Grooming and Urban Dogg Pet Grooming. We have a location in Terrell named Bones & Bows Pet Grooming, another in Colleyville named Kountry Klippers Pet Grooming. And last but not least Arlington Tx Bark of the Town. I am also the former owner of Lakewood Mobile Pet Grooming which I sold in 2023. And I am a business consultant at K9 Business Solutions for the pet grooming industry. In my consulting space I help businesses all over the country with business model optimization, operations management & improvement, revenue growth strategies, staff training & development, marketing & branding, business selling/acquisitions support, technology integration, regulatory compliance & performance monitoring.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I learned how to groom in a very old school manner. I started sweeping the floors and eventually worked my way up to bathing dogs. Over many months I was allowed to do rough in on haircuts and eventually began learning basic cuts. This process took me about a year. Very different than the 6 week programs that are offered today. My very first groom shop I opened in Dallas failed due to a leasing issue and I had not built the clientele enough to be able to afford to move. Forcing me back into the work force. After years of working in the industry again I took my leap of faith in December of 2017 and started my mobile pet grooming business by pulling a trailer behind my Nissan Xterra. I saved 18k for the trailer an it was the catalyst for my entire career.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional pet groomer, business owner and consultant in the pet grooming industry. I have 5 store front locations currently and am about to launch a mobile business. I am most proud of my reputation in the industry as someone who will care for pets and always put them first. My motto is “humanity over vanity.” I think my care for pets sets me apart because I have never focused on the financial gains but only good business. I have also received many awards which I am proud of:

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I do not believe luck has played a role in my success or businesses. I believe that with hard work and dedication has been the catalyst for my success. I do right by others and give thanks to God. The rest falls into place as it should.
