

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daphne Lott and Angela Jones.
Daphne and Angela, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Originally from Shreveport LA. We’ve been throwing and attending parties for a long time, however in 2005 we were given the opportunity to cater a wedding reception for 100 and we’ve been doing it ever since. We were a small home-based business doing what we love to do, after being losing my job I was then left with a very important career decision to make. Should I pursue another job or take this catering thing to the next level.
So we set out to look for a location because we had so many things at home. We figured we could have a space that would store all of our things and we could host small intimate gatherings at the same time. We moved into a loft space downtown that would accommodate about 40 guest. We provided host with a private venue, catering and tables and chairs and centerpieces.
In 2014 we left our loft location and moved into the ranch estate. It gave us indoor/outdoor capabilities and endless opportunity for growth!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Anything worth having is worth working for. In this business you constantly have to re-invent yourself, protect your reputation and stand on your beliefs of what you’re worth!
So Savvy Events & Catering – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Daphne is the Heart of So Savvy. Specializing in decorating and event planning and bringing your vision to life. She creates stories joy and celebration with her decor, making any room warm and inviting. Angela is the Soul of So Savvy. Specializes in catering and creating Classic and creative Southern and creole cuisine. We both can do it all but we choose to do what we love to do. We are known for our Southern Creole cuisine, elaborate decorations and southern charm. So Savvy Events mission is to provide heartwarming soulful experiences and celebrations free from stress and anxiety.
We are most proud of the growth of our company as well as our ability to cater to several non-profit organizations enabling them to meet their commitments to great causes. What sets us apart from other caterers is that we have our own unique location. We cater off-site as well but most of our business is primarily at our location.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success…… If you are doing what you love to do and you’re not going bankrupt doing it! We see expansion, creating more jobs, building a better venue and increasing our mobile catering in our future!
Pricing:
- Our ranch estate party package starts at $30 per person, plus tax, gratuity and $500 admin fee
- Our wedding packages start at $3500 based on the number of guest
