Hi Clotiel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello my name is Clotiel Davis I am the owner and creator of DeCamillion Beauty. Growing up I spent most of my life inside my mother and grandmother beauty shop in Oak Cliff. Seeing endless before and afters was truly inspiring. My favorite part was the fashion shows. After hair was finished a true magic show began with the makeup. They would pull out their makeup cases then line up their brushes an with each swipe they would create works of art. It was like watching a surgeon perform. From that point on I knew I wanted to be the magic in the case. Too young to buy makeup I would use my mothers eyeshadow smashing then mixing lipstick, mashing different colors, making new colors & textures creating new names for each then keeping them in my caboodle. Lol I thought I was a scientist at first.
After finishing school thinking making my own makeup was just a hobby I continued on into different endeavors but I always kept it close to my heart I knew if it was ever possible I would make my own products someday. After going to makeup convention getting quotes and doing research the day finally came I had enough money to mass produce my own products so I started to create pulling inspiration from my personal life matching colors with experiences and names with the emotions they invoke creating my own idiosyncratic collections.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
On every road to success it will be ups and downs. My biggest struggle was finding a work life balance. Being a full time mom and being a entrepreneur has its struggles. Always putting my children first I found “working on the go” to be my solution.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
DeCamillion Beauty is a full makeup line. I specialize in makeup including foundation, concealer, setting spray & powder, gel eyeshadow, eyeshadow palettes and more. DeCamillion is known for our vibrant color palettes, unique names and makeup artist rave about our setting powder. I am most proud of the extravagant looks artist create with my makeup. To know people really support, buy, compliment my products its the most beautiful thing to me. What sets us apart from everyone else is very few people have truly vegan “clean beauty” products that perform like mine nor at our price its truly “luxury for less”. Plus every product comes with a feel good vibe you want get anywhere else!
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I am constantly taking minor risk in my profession because it is very necessary as a creator. I haven’t taken any major risk just yet but my views on risk taking is that it can be tricky sometimes. It has multiple layers within a risk. It’s something you can’t control an that’s the most important part. Major risk helps you find out who you are. And at the end you either celebrate the pay off of a good risk or you deal with the negative consequences of taking that bad risk. But with either outcome you get a experience you can share with others. Always remember when taking any kind of risk never have more courage than knowledge.
