Community Highlights: Meet Evelyn Armendariz & Kevin Jara of Permit Pros Tx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Armendariz & Kevin Jara

Hi Evelyn Armendariz &, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our entrepreneurial journey together began with the formation of their company, “Permit Pros.” Evelyn started her career as an office assistant at the age of 20 for a construction company, where she gained valuable experience over two years. During her time there, she observed a lack of professionalism and frequent client dissatisfaction. This exposure to the industry’s shortcomings planted the seed for future improvements.

Meanwhile, Kevin embarked on his career in the door-to-door sales industry at the age of 19. His tenacity and natural talent for sales enabled him to build his own successful marketing agency. Recognizing Evelyn’s frustration with her employer’s practices and her deep understanding of the design and permitting process, Kevin proposed the idea of starting a business together.

With Evelyn’s expertise in construction permits and Kevin’s marketing and sales acumen, they founded “Permit Pros.” Their complementary skills proved to be the perfect combination for success. The company quickly gained a reputation for reliability and professionalism, leading to rapid growth. Today, “Permit Pros” and their team continues to expand, driven by their unwavering commitment to delivering excellent service and maintaining strong business ethics.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting “Permit Pros” was not without its challenges for Kevin and Evelyn. One of their biggest struggles was earning the trust of potential clients. They often encountered skepticism from clients who had been disappointed by other companies and were hesitant to trust another newcomer in the industry.

To overcome this hurdle, Kevin and Evelyn knew they had to go above and beyond to prove their reliability. They invested a significant amount of time and effort into building strong relationships with their initial clients, ensuring that every project was completed with the highest level of professionalism and attention to detail. This dedication slowly but surely began to pay off as satisfied clients started to spread the word about their positive experiences with Permit Pros.

Additionally, Kevin and Evelyn decided to invest in an office space for their designers and clients. This investment not only provided a professional environment where their team could collaborate and innovate but also offered a welcoming space for clients to discuss their projects and see the design process firsthand. This move significantly boosted client confidence and helped establish Permit Pros as a trustworthy and credible company.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our company specializes in design and permitting for construction projects. That includes new construction, remodeling, and additions to existing buildings. What sets us apart from others is that our final goal with every project is to have a happy client. This has played a major role in our growth with word of mouth bringing in several projects. That is what we are most proud of, that our company is something that our clients can talk about and recommend to others.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Everything we have done has been a risk of some sort. From Kevin convincing Evelyn to quit her full-time job and trust that Permit Pros would work, Kevin stepping down from his position in his marketing agency to focus on Permit Pros, and leasing out an office space without knowing if it was worth it to give future clients more reassurance. We have both made sacrifices and taken risks that has led to our success. Risks are still being taken to this day with us investing large amounts of our capital to grow, market, and improve the quality of our business. There are plenty of other things we could spend our money on, but we know that it will all pay off in the end.
