Meet Adam Traywick of Adam Traywick CPA in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Traywick.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Adam. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in Alabama and attended the University of Alabama where I eventually received a Masters in Tax. Afterward, I worked at a multinational public accounting firm just outside Washington, DC. A few years later, I moved to Fort Worth and worked for a local firm in Arlington advising small businesses. I really enjoyed seeing how accountants can make a huge positive impact in the lives of the entrepreneurs they work with and have focused my practice on working with local small businesses.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Every business has struggles along the way. The accounting industry has really changed dramatically in the last few years with the new technology and tools that are available. CPAs have the opportunity to drive business performance and improvements in addition to the traditional tax and accounting roles. We’re excited to be on the leading edge of this shift and the benefits it will bring our clients.

Please tell us about Adam Traywick CPA.
We are a full-service accounting firm offering accounting and tax services to local businesses. We’ve been able to have the biggest impact when we keep the books for local businesses each month. This allows us to stay close to the numbers and offer timely advice and tax planning opportunities. If entrepreneurs don’t have current financials or if you’re only talking to your CPA each spring to get taxes done, they are really missing out on a lot of the benefits that relationship can offer.

Last fall, we also rolled out our strategic advisory services which I’m really excited about. This is where we roll up our sleeves and really come alongside our entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses and reach their goals. It’s early, but we’ve already seen one client sign a contract that will bring in an extra $12,000 annually by taking advantage of an opportunity we identified during the business review. We have another client that is forecasting triple-digit growth this year and we are helping them manage cash flow, asset acquisitions, and hiring needs to handle the growth.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to do it all again, I wouldn’t change a whole lot. I might hire for certain positions earlier than I did because having great people in the business earlier would have allowed us to grow faster. But I love being an entrepreneur and working with other businesses, so in the end, I don’t think much would change.
