Meet Abby Culver of Culver Plastic Surgery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Culver

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I moved from Missouri to Dallas for plastic surgery residency. After completing a 6 year integrated plastic surgery residency training I worked in academics prior to starting my practice. My husband and I have a 2.5 year old daughter and a 1.5 year old son in addition to a 5 year old english cream retriever.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! Learning to roll with the changes and challenges has become easier with time. My biggest personal struggle has been learning to balance my career with my family time. I try to give 100% to both areas everyday, but occasionally something has to give. I have made changes in my career to allow for some extra time with my kids, and try to make sure I am fully present every moment I get with them. Making changes is never easy, but I’ve also learned as long as I’m putting my family and my patients first I know the decision or the change is the right one. Starting a business with minimal business education or experience has also been a learning experience. I have heavily relied on my mentors for guidance and support throughout the process which is the only way I was able to do it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Culver Plastic Surgery?
I am a board certified plastic surgeon and own my practice – Culver Plastic Surgery. I specialize in aesthetic plastic surgery with a focus on breast and body contouring. What sets us apart is the personalized and lasting relationships we form with our patients. All new patients have an extensive consultation so we can fully understand their concerns and develop a surgical plan tailored exactly to their anatomy and goals. We always discuss several options, and patients are able to choose the surgery to best meet their needs. We see our patients frequently and are in constant communication. Our patients become like family, and seeing them with restored confidence and often function after surgery is the most rewarding part of each day. I am incredibly lucky to get to do this every day and forever grateful for our wonderful patients who trust us to deliver a stress free, comfortable experience and excellent results. We also specialize in facial rejuvenation offering customized skin care, injectable and laser treatment plans.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The same holds true for business and plastic surgery, you don’t know what you don’t know. From beginning medical school through opening a private practice, I’ve been faced with unique circumstances that I’ve learned to navigate with the help of my mentors, colleagues, family and team. My journey has taught me to be empathetic, adaptable and resilient. Being a plastic surgeon and owning a business are both incredibly rewarding and humbling. It’s truly an honor to take care of our patients each day.
