Daily Inspiration: Meet Michelle Winters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Winters

Hi Michelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi my name is Michelle and I am a local mom to the DFW area and run the Instagram page dfw.kids. I started our Instagram account the summer my oldest daughter had just finished Kindergarten. This was our first real “summer break” which made me realize just how precious time is. We only have a short while with our kids before they grow up and leave us and this first summer hit me hard with that realization. I wanted to maximize our time together and create as many family memories as we could before it was time to head back to school. This gave me the notion that if I was feeling like this there are probably other like-minded parents out there who are having these thoughts too. We figured that if we are going to be having these adventures and looking for new spots to create memories we might as well share it with others in the area who are looking to do the same. Summer is full of many challenges with one of the top being, “What are we going to do today?” While summer break looks different for every family we had hoped our page would serve as a resource for parents and spark ideas for some fun things to do in the DFW area. This idea quickly grew and we felt so blessed with how much there is to do for families in the DFW area. We have continued to explore new places to share with our audience as well as highlight events in the area. We love our community and love to see when others tag us along on their adventures as well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We have been very blessed with the community that has been created as a result of our page. However, Instagram and social media can be difficult to grow and navigate in today’s world. There are many amazing and resourceful accounts who are well established so it was very intimidating starting out. I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested in what we shared but stayed true to my intentions. As it turns out, what I was interested in as a mom, friend, wife, etc., there were others out there looking for the same thing.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a full time mom, part-time health care professional and chose to become a content creator in my free time. Our Instagram page is a family friendly account highlighting various venues and events in the area. The Dallas/Fort Worth area has so much to offer and so many fun things to explore. We try to narrow it down for our followers so it is not so overwhelming and keep everyone up to date with events. We have really enjoyed sharing our seasonal and holiday content which is a great time for families to create their wonderful memories as well.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We love hearing from our community so would love for those to keep tagging us @dfw.kids on instagram in their adventures and using #dfwkids. We love reading everyone’s comments and hearing feedback on things they love or are important to them as well! Thank you to all that have supported us along the way and that continue to follow our journey.
