Hi Melannie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Starting my business as an artist and designer has been an incredible journey. It began with a deep passion for creativity and a desire to share my unique vision with the world. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills and built a portfolio that showcases my style and versatility. Through perseverance and a commitment to quality, I’ve navigated the challenges of establishing a brand, from marketing to client relations. Each step has been a learning experience, reinforcing my dedication and inspiring me to keep pushing boundaries in the art and design industry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur in the art and design world comes with its share of ups and downs. On the upside, it offers immense creative freedom, allowing me to express my vision and connect with clients who appreciate my work. The satisfaction of seeing my designs come to life and making a positive impact is unparalleled. However, it also comes with challenges, such as navigating the competitive market, managing finances, and dealing with periods of uncertainty. Balancing the business side with creativity can be tough, but the journey is ultimately rewarding as it pushes me to grow both personally and professionally.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What sets me apart as a designer is my unique ability to blend art with wearable creations, including paintings, headpieces, bralettes, corsets, jewelry and carnival costumes. My designs are characterized by their bold, vibrant aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail, drawing inspiration from diverse cultural influences and my artistic background. Each piece I create is not just an accessory or garment but a statement of individuality and creativity, crafted to celebrate and empower those who wear them. My commitment to quality and innovation ensures that my work stands out in a crowded market, offering clients one-of-a-kind, memorable pieces.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
My love for anime often surprises people because I don’t fit the mold of an average anime fan. As an artist and designer deeply immersed in creating headpieces, bralettes, and carnival costumes, my vibrant, outgoing persona seems at odds with the typical image of an anime enthusiast. However, anime’s rich storytelling, intricate art, and imaginative worlds have profoundly influenced my creative process. It fuels my artistic inspiration, providing a unique perspective that permeates my designs, blending the fantastical elements of anime with my own distinctive style.
