Today we’d like to introduce you to MarvKevea Campbell
MarvKevea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
MarvKevea’s Learning Center, LLC. is a K-12 tutoring service, located primarily in Shreveport, LA. We specialize in math, reading and standardized test prep including, but not limited to, ACT. SAT, HiSET, and more. MLC was born in the year 2023. The owner, MarvKevea Campbell, attended Centenary College of Louisiana, a private, liberal arts, tier-one institution – one of the top colleges in the nation. In his junior, he suffered an academic balance that he was fearful that he would not be able to pay. Due to the lack of work study jobs late in the semester, he did everything he could. That included working at McDonalds, waiting tables and more. Later, many of his peers needed assistance with writing papers. He would offer guidance and would receive incredible reviews. He, then, realized he had a new calling. He started tutoring at a small fee and was able to pay off his junior year fees, He, then, decided to take his hobby serious, and tutor year round. 11 years later, MarvKevea’s Learning Center, LLC. is one of the most sought after tutorial programs in Northwest Louisiana and was recently voted the #1 tutoring service by the 318 Forum Magazine. Since leaving the Houston and Dallas, TX area many years ago, he still offers virtual tutorial services to those that do not reside in the Shreveport area.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been easy. Like most businesses, you have seasons where you experience great success and seasons where it slows down. I had to learn very quickly about business management, financial literacy and how to market myself adequately in all spaces. Another obstacle would include being a one man show. For nearly 10 years, I did everything. The tutoring, the marketing/advertising, the brainstorming, and more. It would become overwhelming and many times I wanted to give up. Throughout those years I was blessed to have my best friend and assistant, Alexandra Hester, who would call clients, manage events, and more to take the stress off of what was already difficult to navigate. I’m so thankful for her. Next, I had to learn that trust was important. Now, I have two additional tutors, an assistant, a stylist, photographer/videographer, a branding team, an intern, and more time to operate as a CEO rather than being my own help. I certainly have an All-Star cast and crew.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MarvKevea’s Learning Center, LLC,.?
People should know that I am a public school teacher and I have gone through rigorous trainings, both, for the classroom and my business. They should know that I am a student always as I am eagerly and continuously on the prowl to learn more and more for children that I teach, guide and impact. My content knowledge and training sets me apart from other tutors that may not have had the training I’ve gained. Our speciality of diving into standardized test prep has been the most rewarding in recent years. Tests are important. They are the tools that our schools and state departments of education use to measure what a student knows or don’t know. Weekly, almost daily, I encounter a child that’s struggling with concepts that could potentially delay the next level of success for them. So, when MarvKevea’s Learning Center is contacted, we express to our clients that they will gain the advantage. Our motto, #GainTheAdvantage, was birthed out of an abundance of student academic success and stories that unlocked doors that they never thought they would have the key to. Our critical one on one tutoring and data driven curricula has been the ultimate key to all of our success. Without our clients, we would not be the cornerstone in our community. We are so grateful for them.
What are your plans for the future?
Right now, we are looking to expand. Our brand isn’t limited to core content taught in classrooms. Performing Arts, leading political campaigns and more have recently been included. It is our mission to educate everyone in all things pertaining to skills learned in the classroom and how their lives are impacted by government. We’ve led Get Out The Vote (GOTV) initiatives where policy education has been on the forefront. This year, we began our homeschool program with only one client as a test-run and it has been a major success. Many parents are seeking alternative ways to educate their child(ren) and homeschooling are one of those ways. If conducted appropriately, much success will be evident.
