Today we’d like to introduce you to Linsay Rosser Sumpter
Hi Linsay, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC), the world’s richest women’s rodeo, recently announced an expansion of exclusive opportunities for female rodeo athletes, including an updated classification tier and the launch of the Women’s Rodeo Championships.
The Women’s Rodeo Championships (WRC) will now oversee the Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC). The WRWC is the largest annual purse for a women’s rodeo event and will payout more than $750,000 while crowning World Champions in the Women’s Rodeo disciplines; Team Roping, Breakaway Roping, and Barrel Racing. An all-around champion will also be crowned. WRWC is a culmination of a year-long race of women’s rodeo events worldwide. Athletes qualify for the WRWC by earning points and leaderboard positions using the VRQ (Virtual Rodeo Qualifier).
Who We Are
The Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC) is a female-organized championship event that was developed in partnership between the World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) and the Professional Bull Riders (PBR).
What We Do
The Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC) is the richest women-only rodeo event in history and is aired on the largest media platforms. This gives women in our sport their own major championship event.
Why It Matters
Women deserve more opportunities in every sport. Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC) was developed to present additional opportunities for female rodeo athletes.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
From day one WRC has paved a new trial for women’s rodeo. With the support of PBR and WCRA, we’ve been given the support to pay the richest payout on the biggest stage, and each year it grows bigger, and more Cowgirls are nominating and earning their qualification to our finals.
With every new event comes obstacles and for WRC our main obstacle is overcoming the standard rodeo mindset and encouraging everyone to give competing with WRWC a try. But each year our event grows bigger, and more Cowgirls are being given this unprecedented opportunity.
