Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Thomas-brown
Hi Gabrielle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my journey by being fixated on charcuterie boards (like most young adults my age) after COVID. Creating different type of boards and experimenting with pairings for family dinners and hanging out with friends. Eventually it branched out to doing bigger spreads for our many family events. After always received accolades from my loved ones on my boards I decided to take the leap and create my business plan.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, the road has been relatively smooth. There definitely have been a few bumps in the road, but that’s the beauty of starting a business. One thing I underestimated at the start was prep time. Thank goodness I have wonderful people around me that are always willing and able to help out!
As you know, we’re big fans of Grazing by GG. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a grazing board caterer and specialize in charcuterie boards curated to individuals needs and inspiration. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I am customer service focused, I desire to give people not only a positive experience but make their vision come true with a ‘can do’ attitude. I am most proud of my dedication. These days it seems like everyone has a small business, and while that is amazing seeing people succeed it also can be discouraging as well. You never think your own business can get traction because there are already businesses like yours out there in the market. But I took the dive and ended up receiving interest and I am proud to have the dedication to see this idea through.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned is creating boundaries and staying firm in them. Unfortunately, people can try to cross boundaries and lean on the unprofitable side but having a set standard of boundaries/expectations can help me stay firm and not lean into the people pleasing tendencies I have.
