Hi colin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Colin Moseley and I am the proud owner/CEO of XL media internet tv and photography company. A homebased professional photography and internet tv business originally from NY and now relocated to DFW ,Texas this year.
XL Media Tv was birth in 2016 out of the need for media coverage at car shows and car meets to create an outlet for the car communities across the US to stay connected through events and videos. Quickly XL Media Tv grew beyond those needs. There were important positive news happening in our local communities that would never make it to the big news channels. XL media recognized the needs, we then went out and applied for Media Press passes and began capturing local events that would help bridge the gap and bring people together and create positive change. We have numerous videos highlighting and promoting our Police Officers in their different ranks uniting with their communities. Not long after the videos went viral, family and friends saw XL media’s passion of capturing beautiful images and began hiring us as their photographers at their special events. This started the expansion of the photography side of the business. We photograph an array of events, mostly weddings, engagements, anniversaries, maternity and birthdays.
Today, we are balancing both sides of the business. We are excited to partner with some major wedding venues and planners to capture someone’s big moment as well as staying connected to our communities to serve, to build and to bridge the gap wherever we can.
XL Media takes pride in the our images we endorse. We are committed to promoting decency and positive changes. We aim to please our customers with images they can be proud of and when they are excited about their photo’s…we know we have done our best. The proof is in the reviews!!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has certainly has not been an easy one, and we faced many challenges along the way. As a small media company we often face challenges when competing with the big TV news channels once the story becomes so sensationalize in our communities. We are sometimes not recognized as “real press” representatives. When celebrities visit our neighborhood they look to the big TV channels and give them priority over us for interviews. With the photography side of the business, it took many years of investing in equipment, in our website, providing small favors and voluntary service to family and friends before we were finally recognized for our impeccable work. The overcrowded photo industry in NYC was also a challenge with finding and maintaining leads. You can always find another photographer willing to outbid your price. But we are committed to excellence, we stayed in our lane and at the end of the day we have happy customers that keep coming back and refer us to others.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
XL Media Tv is a professional photography business focusing on capturing images of people as our main subjects. We specialize in creating high-quality, beautiful images that are visually appealing for both commercial and personal use. Combined with our creative and artistic visionary skills, we also take pride in the equipment that we use to capture these moments. Every moment tells a story, and composing a good story that is a true reflection of our subject/subjects is our ultimate mission. We are known for capturing the essence of any event with beautiful images that tell the prefect story.
In order to do this, we stay true to one simple practice… MEET AND GET TO KNOW OUR CLIENTS PRIOR TO THEIR BIG DAY! If time permits, we meet or talk to our clients before their big day. The images we capture will be very individualized and very unique to them. For couples, we usually plan to meet with them 3 months in advance and prepare a series of communication prior to their big day. Communicating and building trust with our client is key and is very important to us. No one gets a do-over of their special day especially a couple on the wedding day…well you just can’t get it wrong. We know this…so we plan and prepare. During these series of communication, we take the time to know the couple, the nature of their relationship, the characteristic of the couple, their chemistry together, the humor with each other, we study their body language, we interview them and really listen to their love story so we can capture the essence of it. While, there are many creative, artistic and technical skills to becoming an outstanding photographer, and only those may work for others photographers, XL goes far and beyond providing service to our clients that are personalized, honest and reliable. We keep our lines of communication open at all times and our clients can make appointment and reach us by phone, via our website, twitter or Instagram.
UNDERSTANDING OUR CLIENTS NEEDS AND EXPECTATION- It is through communication that I will discover my clients needs and expectations and also iron out all details of their special day. We ask our clients a series of personal questions of how they envision their special day. We make expert suggestions and recommendation that can help them immediately vision a more perfect day. We generally ask the client to provide a list of images they would like to walk away with in telling their story. We review the list with them, we get to know the names of family members that are important to the couple and make sure we capture moments shared with those key members. We never want a client to have regrets in not capturing even a smallest of moments!
WE DO OUR VERY BEST IN MEETING OUR CLIENTS NEEDS- Depending on the event, we make it a practice to do a final review to confirm any changes or updates to the event. For a wedding, we touch base with the couple one week prior to big day. If they have a wedding planner, we include them as well. We comb through all the activities of the day and agree on set times for each session. We give our clients expert advise and recommendations on how to prevent wasted time and how to maximize each photo sessions with us. We also make sure our clients understand how critical it is to sticking to the time line for each session.
ON THE BIG DAY! We Bring all your camera gears…but WE DON”T FORGET TO BRING OUR PERSONALITY!! Have you ever been to big event and the photographer looks almost robotic? Not XL Media! We are just as enthusiastic as our clients to celebrate their big moments. We bring excitement from the time we show up to when we finish. We have grown so much over the years. As professionals we know our purpose at every event. We bring our A-Game no matter how big or how small the event, we treat all our clients with the same integrity and respect. We stay fully engaged throughout their event because we understand how special this moment is for our client and that matters to us. We keep our hands on the trigger of the camera … a moment captured is worth so much more than a moment forgotten…no matter how imperfect.
And this is where XL stands out! We understands the importance of the clients special day, and we remains consistent with this practice of getting to know our clients prior to the event.
I am proud of how much we have accomplished as a small media and photography business. The footprints we are leaving behind. From all the You tube videos that made its way to our audience and connected and made an impact on their lives is an accomplishment. I am also proud of all my images that have won photo contest…but what I am most proud of…is all the people I have met that gave XL Media the opportunity to capture their special moments and have preserve those images as a true reflection of their story that will live on forever…now that makes me proud!!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is the journey! Though I had goals, and though I did not achieve all of them, I keep on going…using my values, my passion, my personal experiences, touching and changing lives everyday and accomplishing my dreams one goal at a time…living a happy and productive life along the way.
