Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsey Cole
Hi Chelsey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I was deeply involved in gymnastics, dedicating my life to the sport. I was a competitive gymnast and even switched to homeschooling to accommodate my intense training schedule, spending over 10 hours a day at the gym. The journey involved immense dedication, hard work, and sacrifices to excel in gymnastics.
Unfortunately, my gymnastics career came to an end due to a serious injury during practice. Despite tearing my rotator cuff before a significant competition, I pushed through the pain to secure a commendable 3rd place in the All-Around. Following surgery and subsequent competitions, another injury forced me to retire from gymnastics at the age of 14.
Transitioning to track and field, I excelled in long and triple jump, earning a full scholarship to Texas Tech University. Uncertain about my career path, I pursued a bachelor’s degree in advertising. After completing my bachelor’s degree in three years, I pursued a master’s in Business and Management at the University of Maryland.
With a desire to become an entrepreneur, I explored various ventures, starting from freelance digital marketing, becoming a travel agent to body sculpting, and eventually settling on furniture flipping and interior design as my niche. Currently, I work as a Gymnastics Coach while running my furniture refurbishing and interior design business. In my spare time, I enjoy creating graphic designs and working as an AI Evaluator for Outlier AI, which provides a rewarding part-time job amidst a busy schedule.
Balancing multiple roles has been challenging, but the passion for my work makes the journey enjoyable and fulfilling.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My major challenges unfolded in two distinct phases. Initially, after completing my bachelor’s degree and still having eligibility, I aimed for a master’s degree. Unfortunately, my application to the Mass Communications Master’s program at Texas Tech University was unsuccessful, and I received this news on my birthday. This experience was truly disheartening, causing me to doubt my capabilities and triggering memories of past discouragement. To regain my confidence, I applied to various schools, including the esteemed University of Maryland with a Nationally-ranked business program. The acceptance from Maryland was tremendously meaningful to me. Despite struggling with Dyslexia in my youth and facing skepticism about my educational accomplishments, I learned to not let others define my path. Your life is yours to control, so pursue your dreams with determination. Though the journey may be challenging, hard work will lead you to your desired destination.
Transitioning from a student-athlete to starting a professional career presented a significant hurdle. It felt like a fresh beginning where I had to learn from the ground up, as my life had revolved around athletics. Previously, everything was managed for me – from schedules to academic responsibilities, and even physical and mental well-being. Now, the freedom to craft my own schedule was liberating yet overwhelming, as I had been solely focused on sports and was uncertain about my career path. This shift felt like a complete reset, akin to a culture shock. Fortunately, my mother provided invaluable support during this adjustment period. Her presence is my greatest inspiration, and I am deeply grateful for her unwavering guidance and encouragement.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Currently, I am employed at Eagle Gymnastics Academy as a recreational coach and office assistant. In this role, I honed my skills in team leadership and marketing strategies by overseeing marketing campaigns, supervising staff, coaching children aged 2 to 14, and boosting brand visibility through innovative marketing tactics and graphic design through email marketing. My expertise in digital marketing and team management enables me to inspire others and steer towards organizational success.
In addition to my full-time position, I run my own business and serve as a social media content creator, crafting visually appealing content, and offering home decoration and repair services. I create engaging and informative content tailored to the preferences and needs of the target audience. I goal I am proud to say I’ve accomplished was within 30 days, my content reached over 2.6 million accounts, with the most viral video garnering over 8 million views, showcasing various DIY projects for home decoration and furniture.
I take pride in all my work, finding joy in achieving both small and large goals. Balancing a diverse set of responsibilities keeps me engaged, and my attention to detail and positive attitude in stressful situations set me apart in my field.
What makes you happy?
My family is my source of joy. Although my family is small, I always make time to be with them, which I eagerly anticipate. Through the years, I’ve realized that looking after myself also brings me happiness. While I enjoy working and making others happy, it’s crucial to prioritize self-care. Treating yourself is essential. I cherish self-care days, focusing on understanding what I consume, choosing the right skincare products, maintaining my hair, getting my nails and toes done, and overall taking care of myself. Engaging in these activities helps me maintain inner peace and happiness, enabling me to share positivity with my family, friends, and everyone I encounter daily.
