Daily Inspiration: Meet Milkin’ It Podcast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Milkin’ It Podcast

Hi Milkin’ It, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, we haven’t been in the podcast industry long. It all started while we were at church. Just a few friends sitting around in between services having some of the most random conversations, and just going down rabbit holes. One day we just decided to record a simple video of one of our many conversations. From that video we thought why not record more of our conversation. That’s where Milkin’ It the podcast was born, consisting of four friends from different styles of thinking but sharing the common interest of learning more and “milkin” the topics.
We are the four friends and we host the Milkin’ It podcast. Let us introduce ourselves, our names are Amaris, Sebastian, Bryan and Arturo. The whole idea of the podcast is to dive deep into many topics ranging from everyday life all the way to our Christian faith. We are a group of friends who love to have fun and goof around but also dive deep into topics and see how far our knowledge can lead us. We want to exercise our brains and encourage our listeners to do the same; to not only rely on things they hear but to go and do their own research. Some episodes are light hearted and some others are dense with information but with the thought in mind of “milkin” the topic at hand.
If you are wondering why our show is called Milkin’ It, well the answer is really two things. One, Sebastian really loves milk and he wants to explore the different types of milk. He also ranks them with a sophisticated chart, one day he’ll find that 10/10 milk. This is why during our podcast we have a segment where Sebastian brings out a milk he wants us to try. Secondly we named the podcast that way because we always tend to milk a conversation.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No team or business is perfect, there will always be difficulties but that is the beauty of it, through the hardships is where we can grow the most. Trying to coordinate a podcast with four people, each with their own individual lives can be hard at times but not impossible. Sometimes we may have some minor arguments but nothing that can’t be resolved. We are all humans and we go through situations that may affect our moods and we may not want to talk to one another but we are there to support each other and trust each other.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In Milkin’ It we choose a topic or question we want to dive deep into. Sometimes we get very deep into that specific topic other times we go deep into the rabbit trail we find ourselves going through. Either way it is always a fun time just talking about anything and everything as friends. We understand that some people may think we are goofballs just trying to ride the podcast train but honestly we see it as documenting our conversations because honestly sometimes we forget some of our conversations and this is the best way to recall them. We post our conversations so people can be a part of our conversations and give their input as well.
(Arturo) The thing I am most proud of is the fact that I get to bond with my friends and bring our differences and similarities to the table. The best times for the most part are before and after the podcast where we truly get to bond and talk with each other. Those are the moments I cherish the most, although I am the oldest of the group, I learn so much from them and I am grateful for their lives, their passion and their love for God. I also can’t forget our friends that help us out behind the scenes, shout out to Jared, Angel, and my sister Valery.
(Bryan) What sets our group apart, from perhaps other podcasts, is that we have such a variety of topics that we discuss with Christian overtones. We talk about philosophy, psychology, and plain old nonsense with a distinctly, dare I say, biblically sound, voice. And sometimes our tangents get overtly Christian which I think gives away our true intent with this podcast: to encourage honest questions among ourselves and our viewers because I know that difficult questions ultimately lead to God.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
(Arturo) My favorite childhood memory, from the many, it’s hard to choose but I would have to say was going to visit my grandparents in south Texas. Arriving there and smelling all the fruit trees and flowers my grandma had, and going to the beach. Spending a full day fishing, swimming, and eating delicious food. I wouldn’t trade those moments for the world. Although they are no longer with me, their memory lives on when I smell particular smells or go to the beach. This has to be on of my favorite childhood memories.

(Bryan) My favorite childhood needs a bit of context. Between the ages of 5 to 8 I didn’t listen to that much music. I listened almost entirely to music at church, and at home I would occasionally listen to operas or classical. But around the time I was 9, me and my parents were browsing Mardel, a Christian Chain store that normally sold knick knacks but which also had a section that sold CDs. The genres available were gospel, rock, rap, and hip hop. One of the album covers drew my attention, an antenna with text that read ,”Portable Sounds’” and ,”tobymac.” I popped it into one of the CD players they had and plugged in some headphones and was greeted with One World which was an absolute explosion of sound. To me it was such a pivotal moment in me discovering music outside of my comfort zone, and I’ve had two other experiences which were similarly formative; when I heard “Shout It Out Loud,” by KISS in eighth grade, and when I heard “Soul Sacrifice,” by Santana in the ninth grade which opened me up to rock music and Latin music respectively.
