Today we’d like to introduce you to Khe Dean
Hi Khe, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Khe pronounce(Key) a professional stylist/trichologist and proud owner of KHE Academy Hair Weaving School. Originally born in Kansas City who currently resides in Dallas Texas. I’ve been in the Beauty industry for over 17 years now. My passion for wigs was inspired by a family member who lost their battle to breast cancer and then created a wig collection to help women feel secure while going through a difficult time in their lives. I opened 2 salons back home (Kansas City) I began stocking wigs/bundles and became an expert in hair extensions. I now attend and speak at major events and has worked Bronner Brothers Hair Show and Fashion Week in New York City.
I’ve won prestigious awards and certifications for my work. Our staff go above and beyond to help those with cancer regain their self-esteem. KHE Academy Hair Weaving School is the Highlight of Downtown Frisco and the place to go we previously partnered with 5 Hospitals to provide custom wigs for cancer patients and looking to partner with more through out the DFW. I am the leading educator of hair/wigs extensions and tape in artist which are the latest trend in the hair industry. As a local small business owner, Khe has created a real story of compassion and success for the small time she’s been in Dallas. Apart from working I spends the balance of my days with my family creating experiences with my two children and enjoying life. Khe desires to teach weave techniques being a platform educator worldwide and have several locations throughout DFW.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been an easy journey, I have started over many times but never stopped. I have had many losses, people stealing , people leave on me, went through a divorce and custody battle all at the same time of relocating to Dallas. I had a couple of medical scares and had to make hard and healthy decisions, set boundaries in my life for my mind, body and soul.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I opened a hair weaving school this summer May 2024 called KHE Academy Hair weaving School. It’s located in Frisco TX.
Our 10 week program provides 4 weaving techniques and advanced weaving and hairloss courses
The KHE Academy provides in-depth knowledge and hands-on training for both aspiring professionals and seasoned veterans seeking further education. Upon completion, students will be ready take state board exams and become licensed in Texas in 10 weeks instead of 12 months,
I am the lead instructor for KHE Academy I specialize in all hair extensions from Quickweaves, Sew ins, Tape ins, Itips, clip ins, wigs and more! I am also a certified Trichologist. What sets me apart from others is that I provide a unique program that just caters to hair extensions and all the current techniques you can take my program without having to go through the whole cosmetology program, have a speciality skill and become a licensed hair weaving specialist in a short amount of time that will open you up to job placement in any salon or suite.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I take risk on any business venture that I had because I always believed in my visions and knew no one was going to do it for me so I had to do it myself. I funded majority of my businesses with my own savings( I don’t recommend) Before I relocated to Texas I had a big clientele a thriving business but still felt like I wanted more opportunity and wanted to go to a bigger city. I sold it all, sold my house and moved to Texas with only my daughter’s bedroom set and have been building every since.
