Hi JACOB, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello there!

Well, we must admit, Lori’s Estate Sales started well before we (Jacob & Stephanie) arrived, Its DFW’s longest running and currently family owned Estate Sale Companies. I (Jacob) was forutnate enough to start working with Lori’s when my mother bought the company many years ago. It has been an absolute pleasure helping our community out through these sales by providing an easy yet thorough process in hosting sales for these families, as well as providing amazing & unique items at fair prices to our valued customers!

Stephanie and myself have been running Loris for several years now, and have been working for the company for a total of 11 years each! We’ve always loved Estate Sales, and now that we run one ourselves, we strive for ours to be among the best that people attend. We hold ourselves to a higher standard when it comes to presentation, fair pricing and customer service.

Today we’ve expanded our reach to more cities than ever before, hosting sales all over the metroplex. We even had people come to our sales from out of state! Its fascinating to meet all the new people who show up and continue to support these families and our small (maybe not for long) business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been plenty of obstacles when it comes to Estate Sales, but none that we havent been able to push through and prevail! Because of the fact that we hold ourselves to a higher standard, we put the pressure on ourselves. We constantly ask, “How can we make this sale as perfect as possible?”, “How can we accomodate this families time frame?”, “What can we do to make the shopping experience more fun and exciting?”. I will say, we’ve answered and done them all.

Hosting an Estate Sale can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be, and from our experience, its better to do it the right way…no matter how hard or challenging that may be. Our main goal is to maximize the amount of profit the family gets, and in order to do so takes several steps. Like I mentioned before, from presentation & fair pricing, to customer serevice, you need some of everything to make a sale go as smoothly as possible.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Being DFW’s longest running Estate Sale Company at over 17 years experience, we know exactly what it takes to have a successful sale. Holding a higher standard of presentation relatable to a retail store, with a boutique feel and fair pricing.

Our service offers meticulous planning, expert organization, and seamless execution for your Estate Sale needs.

– We first begin by staging the entire home, with all the supplies & displays necessary. Categorizing like items, color coordinating & cleaning.

– Once displayed to a level that meets our standard, we begin our marketing & advertising. Developing a strategy to promote each and every item through various channels, including our large Facebook following, Instagram, an extensive email mailing list, estatesale.net, estatesale.com and numerous local pages as well. We also will put out our highly recognizable signs throughout the neighborhood and nearby main streets to provide easy directions right to your sale.

– After we have every item advertised, we begin our highly thorough research process on every item for pricing. We understand that the market fluctuates, so each item is individually priced based on current market value.

Because of all of this, we set ourself apart from many of the other Estate Sale companies.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
As far as the main social media apps we use to help promote our sales, We’re sure there’s plenty more that could greatly help the process of setting up a sale and/or spread the word. As far as finding an extra resource to help, we’ll just have to wait and see!

  • Our prices will always be below retail value.
  • Our prices will always be fair and transparent.
  • We priced based on a used market just like many of our products are already used.
  • We will never price gouge based on demand.
  • Each and every item at our sales gets a price tag.
