Inspiring Conversations with Madison Fay of Lux Media Collaborative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Fay

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2021 Covid hit and everyone was losing their jobs, including myself. My coworkers and myself were furloughed – at this time I was a Junior in College at UT San Antonio. Through college I kept a job consistently but I was always experimenting on the job field – I wanted to be sure I made the right choice.

I received a job as Keller Williams City Views Marketing Coordinator where I learned a ton of skills when it came to marketing while I was finishing my degree my Senior year. While I was at this job, a company reached out to me asking if I did freelance social media on the side – I was stunned because I ran my personal socials but never anyone else’s.

I took a leap and made myself a portfolio, pricing guide and started my own LLC called Lux Media Collaborative. I started with a tiny mom and pop bar in San Antonio and grew my company over the las 3-4 years to where it is now. I have clients across Texas and remote clients in surrounding states I work with as well.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
To keep it short no, my first year was a complete developmental phase. I was learning how to start a business while actively trying to grow someone else’s. It was stressful, especially while trying to finish out my senior year of college. I moved three times in the last few years so also juggling having to travel to keep my clients happy as well is a challenge. It’s very rare that I have a weekend to sit and relax, I’m always on the road for my clients in Austin or here in Dallas.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lux Media Collaborative?
Lux Media Collaborative is a women-owned marketing agency. I’m a complete one stop shop for all things digital marketing. I provide full Social Media Management, Social Content Strategy, Content Creation and Editing, and I’ve recently opened my business to capturing content for Wedding’s and Events. I not only provide all of these services locally in Texas but I also travel to any destination to provide these services.

I’ve successfully grown every account I’ve had my hands on. I help create a digital footprint for businesses that never had one to begin with or just needed a complete refresh. I pride myself in being completely flexible to whatever the business needs – no matter the budget. I have super close relationships with all of my clients and I love being a small part of their business.

I’m most proud that I’ve done this all by myself. I started this with the money in my own pocket and have grown it to where it is now. I’ve recently got recognized by a huge brand “Briogeo” that recognized not only my “Influencer” side of my personal content but also my business side as a content creator – they asked if I could take content of a pop up here in Dallas, Tx as an external member of their team and I was just ecstatic to do so.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Make as many relationships as possible. Just because a business may not accept your business pitch in the moment – if you keep a close relationship with them they will appreciate and recognize that in the long run. Connections are everything – make as many friends in the industry as you can.

Don’t be scared to put yourself out there.
