Today we’d like to introduce you to Tess Spurrell
Hi Tess, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In may of 2023 my husband and I got married. We went on our honeymoon to Costa Rica for over a week and when I returned I knew I did not want to go back to my 9-5 job. I had worked in family law on and off for the past several years. I was ready to make my own schedule and have a job that was rewarding and stress free! We came up with the business idea shortly after returning and Neon Snow FTW was established July 2023. The name came from the love I have for neon signs and they are everywhere in the heart of Fort Worth! We also both lived in Colorado before and remembered that Texas wasn’t just known for their rodeos and good music, but also the hot summer days where everyone wants a snowcone! Everything started to come together for our business and we knew what we wanted to do!
I was eager to get started on this new journey spreading smiles and memories with booking our business for events.
I didn’t want to be just an ordinary snow cone stand, I wanted to be sure we could be mobile and go anywhere and to any type of event. We started doing mostly birthday parties, apartment complexes and have extended out to corporate events, open houses, roofing suppliers, you name it! I had no clue how fast and broad this company would expand too. We feel that we are very blessed to have had such a successful first year opening. I truly believe our high energy and quality of shaved ice is the key to our success. Excited to be starting our second year and hoping to one day expand the business even further than just one mobile unit.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Finding the right mobile trailer was a search. At first we thought about building our own first, but realized after a lot of research on mobile food trucks regulations, we had to invest in the best trailer we could get.
Starting this business from nothing and having no experience in being a food truck vendor was a task itself to learn!

We are a mobile shaved ice vendor in the Fort Worth Metroplex. One thing that sets us apart from other shaved ice vendors is our quality of ice! We did the research to guarantee that soft powdery ice we all crave.
We also wanted to be sure we did not look like any other mobile shaved ice vendor out there. Our design and logo is one of a kind and is esthetically pleasing to the eye and a statement. Especially with our disco cowgirl on the back that screams Fort Worth! Neon Snow offers 25 flavors and multiple options of toppings compared to some others that only have a few.
I’m proud to be a local small business owner here in Fort Worth. I believe in selling not just our product but the experience we bring to level up any private party or special event!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My best advice is marketing yourself on social media! If you have a huge network of people word of mouth travels fast and is best. Having a website is a must so people that are searching the area can find a local business (such as your own) easily with quick contact.
I also went door-to-door on some sales for apartment complexes and one door opening can always lead to a lot more, which was the case for me working with this industry!
