Check Out Gifted Summer Fest Co.’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gifted Summer Fest Co.

Hi Gifted summer fest co., can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all began In 2021, in Fort Worth, Texas, Jordan Gatewood (JWOODZ) and Mychal Browning (Microphone Boss) initiated Gifted Summer Fest to fill a void in the local Christian rap scene. Recognizing the need for an annual event that provides a creative and safe space to experience Jesus, we decided to create our own opportunity rather than wait for others to call or inquire .

The festival aims to cultivate culture and showcase local talent, allowing up-and-coming artists to shine. Gifted Summer Fest has quickly become a staple in the community, fostering genuine connections and expanding its reach to other markets over the years.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for us; however, without error, there is no growth. We have faced challenges in planning and expanding our brand, from marketing to networking. There have been difficult times when we struggled to get others to see our vision as we do. Many people have come and gone from our team, and while it’s understandable that some leave, we recognize that without change, there is no growth. Nevertheless, we continue to roll with the punches and stay focused on the mission that God placed on our hearts for this city. Through it all, we have witnessed God’s grace and glory each year.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a local Christian hip-hop festival catering to the Dallas-Fort Worth music scene.

We are known for providing a safe space for hip-hop listeners of all walks to experience great music with a high-quality approach.

We take pride in what God is doing in our city through this event, showcasing local and national artists who have graced our platform. It’s inspiring to see local artists thrive and jump-start their music careers through the connections and relationships they’ve gained.

What sets us apart from other local events isn’t so much a separation—after all, in the Kingdom, we are one body with the same mission to bring people closer to Christ. However, what makes us stand out is our commitment to support the lesser-known artists on our roster. Many festivals in other markets often overlook these artists, which can be discouraging for them.

We open our doors to allow these artists to perform, treating them with respect and providing full support to showcase their music at a high level. With visual art displays, lighting, and special effects during performances, we ensure they leave feeling equipped with the tools to take that same level of creativity and share it elsewhere.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
This has been done without major labels nor major event coordinators, nor promoters all been executed from the pockets of our own expense and the grace of God.
