Today we’d like to introduce you to Madi Grace Schaefer
Hi Madi Grace, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Photography has been a passion of mine since my early teenage years when I purchased my first camera on eBay. As soon as the camera came in, I immediately went out and photographed everything in sight. Growing up in Mississippi, there was never any shortage of beautiful scenery and amazing moments to capture.
After high school, I went to Texas Christian University and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design. While I enjoyed the actual Design work I did during school, I came to realize that my favorite part of every project was photographing my work at its completion. I loved how my photos gave me the ability to encapsulate the story of every unique piece of work – this is something that I have directly translated into my career as a photographer.
After graduating and spending a year as a Junior Art Director at an Advertising Agency in Fort Worth, I finally made the leap of faith and decided to officially launch my photography business – and Madison Grace Photography was born.
Since that first camera I bought on eBay, I’ve spent years and countless hours honing my craft to create a unique signature look. The final images are light & airy, soft & natural, intimate & candid.
My specific areas of expertise are Couples, Families, Maternity and Newborns. I am dedicated to capturing and preserving memories while highlighting the beauty in everyday life. Whether it’s a Christmas Card, a family portrait, or a newborn baby, my goal is to encapsulate the essence of those special moments.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While the road to today certainly hasn’t been paved smooth or easy, I’ve been extremely fortunate and blessed during these initial years since launching my business. Starting your own business is a never-ending process of growth and constant change and my story has been no different.
Growing up in a small town, the decision to start a business in a city like Fort Worth was a daunting endeavor, and sometimes still is to this day. However, I’ve been blessed to have been so well-received into the Fort Worth community as a photographer and am eager to continue to expand my network and footprint in this beautiful city.
In the early days, I had to decide what my “specialty” and “areas of focus” would be. Ultimately, I decided to focus on Couples, Families, Maternity and Newborns – areas I absolutely love capturing. This decision has turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise – especially in the Motherhood and Newborn category. While no mother would ever choose a favorite child, my deep connection with Motherhood and Newborn photography developed from an immediate love for this type of work.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m passionate about making photoshoots an enjoyable experience, ensuring they never feel like a chore, whether you’re a parent, kid, or even a dog! My approach to photography is centered on creating a relaxed environment where everyone feels comfortable and can truly be themselves.
I specialize in capturing moments that are both timeless and natural. My editing style reflects this—each image is carefully crafted to preserve the candid essence of the moment. What sets me apart is my commitment to personally touching and editing every single photo I take. This hands-on approach allows me to deliver a final product that resonates with the authenticity and emotion of the experience. I’m most proud of the connections I build with my clients and the joy they feel when they see their memories beautifully preserved in my images.
My end goal in every photo shoot is to tell a story, not just to deliver an album of pictures. Whether it’s a beautiful love story on display in an Engagement shoot or the joy of bringing new life into the world at a Newborn shoot, there is always a story to be told and it’s my job to help you write it.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Photoshoots can always have a daunting and somewhat scary stigma attached to them. Sometimes, my clients are a bit nervous and unsure at the beginning of their photoshoot. Seeing their change in emotion as the shoot progresses is truly one of my favorite things.
Being able to use my photography skills to build confidence and make others feel better about themselves is a feeling that will never get old for me. Being able to show people the beauty the rest of the world sees in them is what it all boils down to. At the end of the day, if you asked me what I love most about photography, that’s my answer right there.
