Rising Stars: Meet Jhon Molina “el Niño” of Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jhon Molina “el Niño”

Hi Jhon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started very young doing Venezuelan Nationalist Dance with different groups recognized in my country. At the same time I did other disciplines such as Jazz.

I had performances in the Capital, on important television channels in Venezuela and I traveled representing my country in different dance events.

At 16 years old I started in Flamenco Dance discipline, which is the dance in which I work today as a bailaor, choreographer and professor. I was a very recognized professional in my country, I gave classes, workshops and promoted the art national and international experiences.

Today, in the area of north of Dallas, for more than a year now, I continue working as a professor in the city of Plano, Texas, promoting the art in my Flamenco classes at different levels, beginner, intermediate and advance, performing with my dance company “Flamenco Passion” at festivals and private/corporate events, theaters, etc. What I am passionate about is being able to educate our audience or teach my students to appreciate and respect this beautiful art form of Flamenco.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a smooth road overall because I have tried to do a good job, keeping a professional and high-level profile in this beautiful art of dance.

There are always obstacles that we must overcome and they stand in our way to achieve our goals, but I think the most important thing is to have our goals clear and fight to achieve them, always focusing on being a good person, respectable, kind and showing quality in our work. I think I have achieved it! The feedback from the audience or from the people who invite us to participate in events has always been and is very satisfactory and positive.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
First, I love my job. I specialize in being a choreographer of general dance, including several genres such as Flamenco, Ballet, Jazz, Nationalist Dance, and other international dances. I am a teacher of Latin Rhythms, such as Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, and Flamenco, a beautiful dance originating in the south of Spain that has different styles (palos), where each one represents and transmits something in particular. Flamenco is captivating, passionate and interesting.

I am known for the quality of my presentations, for the professionalism with which I perform, for the respect I have for the art of dance and I share it to the audience in each performance and to my students in each class.

I am proud of who I am and what I have achieved so far, as a person and professionally. I am proud to generate in my students a pleasant atmosphere of hard work, with the demands that each class level requires and encouraging them to express themselves in dance with freedom and a lot of passion.

I feel that what distinguishes me from others is the respect I have for the art of dance, how professional I am when I have to represent the Flamenco dance, respecting its history, its different beats (compás), rhythms (palos), the roots of this beautiful dance and adding a little bit of my fusion.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I have people that I work with, I have volunteers who are interested in promoting the art of Flamenco in their areas, dance, singing, music, etc. Now in the North Dallas area.

They are the ones who help me in the administrative area, others specialize in the area of presentations, costumes, and event coordination.

I could say that I feel very grateful to have volunteers at my side, even my students because they were the ones who appreciated my work, my performance and my quality in the performances and encouraged me to continue with this beautiful and artistic profession, sharing my talent and my passion with the audience and with those around me.
