Rising Stars: Meet Allie Griffin of Gunter, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Griffin

Hi Allie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always loved to cook. Friday nights used to be browsing through a specialty grocery store after work and picking out excellent cuts of meat and fun ingredients to prepare for my husband and I while sipping a glass of wine before sitting down for dinner at 9pm…fast forward a few years and there aren’t enough hours in the day to spend that much time cooking! When my husband and I first had children, I was working full-time, and while I still had a passion for cooking, I had to make it a little easier to be able to still have home cooked meals every night to enjoy at the dinner table.

I used to scroll food pages on TikTok and Instagram and think, “I could do that. I can cook, I have the personality for that”. Finally one day, while I was cooking dinner after work, my husband said “hey, you should film yourself cooking dinner”… and just like that, I started sharing my dinners hoping to encourage another busy mom.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road. When I first began my journey, I was working full-time in marketing/sales for a restaurant and hotel. My position was very demanding, especially with a commute and two young children. As you can imagine, sometimes you do not feel like cooking dinner, especially when you do not get home until after 6pm after a long day at work. A lot of my ‘simple’ recipes come from that time period of having to throw dinner together quickly, cook dinner all day in the crockpot or meal prep at the beginning of the week. With the help and encouragement from my incredibly supportive husband, I was able to step away from that position in early 2024 and focus on my dream full-time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My mission is to bring families to the dinner table. We all have different walks of life, but one thing we all have in common is that we are all busy and we all need to eat. By showcasing these simple recipes, I hope to encourage someone who thinks they can’t cook, or they are too busy to cook to give it a try and make dinner for their family.

I think I am most proud when someone comments on one of my reels and tells me that they made one of my recipes for dinner and their whole family loved it. Or, when Giada de Laurentiis commented on my Chicken Piccata reel, ha.

I think what really sets me apart from others is that my content doesn’t just come from a love of cooking. Sharing meals connects families at the end of a long day, it embraces culture, it shows love. My son is 4 and if you sit down and share a meal with him, he will ask you to raise your hand and he will ask you how your day was. Maybe I am also most proud of that.

What were you like growing up?
I feel like I was your standard kid. I grew up in a small town in North Texas, I played sports, cheered on Friday nights. I was pretty straight laced, but had a few wild streaks here and there. I have always had a good sense of humor and enjoy good humor.
