Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Rivard
Hi Amanda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got involved in real estate at the very young age of 17. I was already enrolled and about to start my first semester at CU Boulder where I planned to study Psychology. At the same time, I started dating a man who was a little bit older than me, who was heavily involved in real estate investing. Honestly, he coerced me into dropping out of college and pursuing real estate with him. Do I regret it though? Absolutely not. I love the career I have cultivated and while not always easy, I still help so many people, just in a very different way than I set out to initially.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The only consistent thing in real estate is the inconsistency. That being said, no it hasn’t always been smooth. Even as my career advances, there are still so many ups and downs in this industry. It is constantly evolving. Sometimes you’re crushing it for months on end and sometimes you’ll have months where you know you’d be making more money if you were employed at Starbucks, yet you’re working 10 times as hard, with no paycheck in sight. Resiliency has been my personal corner stone in this business for sure and I’m thankful for it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My brand is important to me which is why I founded CoCreate Real Estate. I am super proud of it and how it has grown. In a world where people tend to care more about themselves than others, it was crucial for me to convey that my client’s real estate journey is NOT about me and it’s not about my own timeframe. I really want to demonstrate that, so that my clients would have the understanding that I’m not here to push a personal agenda on anyone. I really do have my client’s best interest at heart and for me, committing to this journey WITH my clients means that we are co-authors of their story, together. It’s more than a transaction for me, it’s a heartfelt collaboration where their aspirations meet my dedication to fulfill their real estate goals and the ultimate goal of building generational wealth. I would love to say, I specialize in one specific arena of real estate, but to be honest, over more than two decades of being involved in the industry, I handle everything – from commercial, residential, investments, small foot print developments to managing portfolios. I can essentially handle whatever my specific client’s needs are.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a talkative tomboy who was always a hustler. I grew up amidst poverty in Flint, Michigan which was tough and not having much growing up, made me pretty business minded from a young age. In Michigan, you would get $.10 for every recyclable can or bottle and I remember being so young and going door-to-door with my wagon collecting neighbors recyclables so that I could cash in on the money from it. I’ll never forget once when my parents were sleeping and I was maybe 10 years old, I had a yard sale with all of our belongings from the garage and sold pretty much everything and I thought I was so rich and successful until my parents woke up. That did not end well for me. Regardless, I think I was built for sales. Other than that, I played baseball, climbed trees and was averse to anything that was “girly”. I was amazing at math but hated it because it didn’t challenge me enough (surprisingly now though, based on helping my daughter with her school work, I would fail 6th grade advanced math today). As I got older, I grew very fond of mental sciences and science overall and I still am to this day.
