Life & Work with Jamarcus Lewis-washington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamarcus Lewis-washington

Hi Jamarcus, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Well, it all started when I decided to take writing seriously after a football injury. I’ve always had a passions for writing, but I loved football. When I found out that I wouldn’t be able to play anymore I did go through a depressions stage. So I would write out things and feelings. Then they would turn into poetry, and then poetry would turn into stories that would eventually turn into scripts and it was pretty much it from there.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothings ever smooth when you have goals you want yo achieve, you’ll have road blocks and the whole nine, I’ve went through the a lot to get where I’m at. From getting rejected over and over again, then I had to realize that with every no, you’ll have at least one yes that will change your life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a writer of film as well as a director and actor. I am known mostly as a writer. I am most proud of my drive as a writer. I love creating a story and live capturing my audience attention

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
In life you have to know that taking risk is basically comes with being in this industry. I’ve taken risks on productions that didn’t do as well as I wanted it to do. But I was also grateful for that cause it humbled me to know the people that did show up supported my vision
