Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Wood.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Before graduating from the University of North Texas, I took an internship as an Interior Designer in a prominent Architects office in Dallas. He introduced me to the Designer who would establish my taste and shape my career. This designer took me under her wing and introduced me to the Dallas design industry. Giving me opportunities most young designers could only dream of! After working for her for several years I was scouted for a job in a showroom; I decided to try my hand at the more business side of Interior Design. Transitioning from the more creative side of design to the structured and systematic side of design seemed to come easy. I really their organization structure and they allowed me to implement my own ideas locally. I had just gotten married and was enjoying the nine to five work environment that allowed me to be home more, when we decided to start a family.
Knowing I wanted to be home during the day I took on a part time position with an architectural non-profit that allowed me to work from home. Organizing an organization was so much fun, but getting to be home to raise my daughter was one of the most rewarding experiences. I knew I wanted to be able to keep my flexible schedule and continue working from home. My friends from the non-profit, seeing how organized I was, introduced me to NEAT Method via Instagram and I reached out. I was able to work under the previous owner briefly and fell in love with the process. In October 2017 I was given the option to take over the Dallas/Fort Worth market and I jumped at the opportunity!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Dallas/Fort Worth has been so kind to me. Everyone who has welcomed me into their home has been epitome of Southern Hospitality.
The NEAT Method corporate team really helps to support and grow their franchisees. NEAT Method just completed our 2018 Summit with 40 girls who organize across the United States. It was great to come together and talk about well… organizing.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Happiness. If you’re happy then you are successful. If that means running an office or running your kids to school, it’s whatever makes you happy!
