Today we’d like to introduce you to Rohini Agarwal
Hi Rohini, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated as a dentist in 2014 and worked in corporate dentistry for a couple of years in portland, oregon. I wanted to provide patient care in a manner that aligned more with my treatment philosphy rather than the corporate guidelines. Hence i started my own practice in 2017 but sold the practice during the peak of covid with all the uncertainties surrounding new mandates in healthcare settings and shutdowns. Since then i moved to Dallas, Texas for a more sunnier weather. I started a dental practice again in Apr 2024 even though its a tough journey to establish a private practice from scratch because i understand that it is the only way i can enjoy providing dental care in my community and balance family life. I enjoy the challenges of establishing a new practice and balancing a family life with my husband and two young daughters. It gives me the freedom to choose the technology and materials i utilize in my office for day-to-day care. Being my own boss allows to me to take time off when my family really needs me. I also enjoy being a part of my community and helping those in need. I recently organized a free dentistry day at office to help those who cannot afford a much needed dental treatment.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Entrepreneurship is always filled with struggles. The first dental practice i started i had a learn how to manage people, understand all the regulations and compliances needed to operate a small business/healthcare facility. I had to constantly upskill myself to offer better services and more comprehensive care to remain competitive with other dental practices in my area. When things were going really great we experienced covid in 2020 and everything was under lockdown. Sourcing N95 masks was extremely difficult and expensive and i had to make the tough choice to selling the practice which i had worked so hard to build. and grow,
