Inspiring Conversations with Chukwuka John of Suttonedge Capital LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chukwuka John

Hi Chukwuka, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I moved to the United States when I was 20 years old to pursue my university education after completing High School in Nigeria. I attended Dallas College for my prerequisites and Victory Bible College in Tulsa to obtain a Diploma. Later, I pursued my Bachelor’s in Finance at Northeastern State University and earned my Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from WGU.

I obtained my US Citizenship through the US Army, where I served as a Mental Health Specialist for the 386th medical detachment in Sandsprings, OK. I came across a book by Robert Kiyosaki called Rich Dad, Poor Dad. This book sparked my interest in creating generational wealth through real estate investment. I was inspired by my father’s success in Nigeria, where our family lived off the rent collected from tenants. I wanted to follow in his footsteps and also educate others on doing the same.

Currently, I am investing in apartments in the Texas Triangle cities of DFW, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. My goal is to create generational wealth for my family, one apartment at a time. Additionally, we are actively working with the government to provide affordable homes for working-class individuals. Most of the apartments I am involved in are syndications, meaning we use debt and private equity funding to close deals in these markets.

I have invested in over 2,000 apartment units in Texas and plan to acquire more properties in the state, particularly in the DFW market. Furthermore, I am dedicated to educating my community about financial independence and the importance of planning and executing their goals for financial freedom. In my teachings, I often advocate for using apartments as a vehicle for investment.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Learning how to invest in apartments can be quite challenging as it is a team effort. It’s not something you can just decide to do on a whim. Having a mentor is a valuable way to learn the business, but it often requires a substantial investment, sometimes close to five figures, to be mentored by a reputable coach.

Raising capital is another hurdle in this business. It can be difficult to find high-net-worth individuals who are interested in diversifying their investments into apartments.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Suttonedge Capital LLC?

My journey, documented and shared on social media, has garnered widespread attention, leading to invitations from various organizations, churches, and businesses to speak at their conferences, summits, and leadership seminars. The demand for authentic voices in the knowledge industry is staggering. As a transformational speaker, I empower individuals with practical steps to revolutionize their financial lives. I firmly believe that everyone can take tangible steps at any stage of their life to achieve a more secure financial future. My ultimate goal is to inspire and guide others on the path to financial independence.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Before investing in any property, take 6-12 months to learn the business. I know everyone’s learning curve is different, but take your time to understand the market, the deal, the financing, the operations, the management team, and the business plan. Time invested in Education is never a waste. If you can afford a mentor, go for it.
