Hidden Gems: Meet Jackie Dolak of Realtors® Bray Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Dolak

Hi Jackie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was working at a clothing boutique and decided that I wanted something I could be stretched and grow in, so I quit that job and began real estate school. My husband always thought about doing real estate along side his full time job as a firefighter, so when I started, he decided to join me. It’s definitely been a journey, not easy either, but we’re pushing through it hoping to reach new goals.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not exactly. Real estate is anything but easy. It’s like learning a new language. You have to learn to manage people properly because in this industry people are making a big decision and it can be very emotional. Nothing is the same, each buyer and seller are different and have a different journey, needs and we are here to help them. Also it’s a very saturated industry, it very difficult to make yourself stand out.

As you know, we’re big fans of Realtors® Bray Real Estate . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
So my husband and I aren’t just real estate agents together, we’re a team. We have our separate parts in this career and it’s a good balance. We are able to give our clients 100% of our time and they get two agents instead of one. We have assembled a professional portfolio of specialists from customer home builders, one of which includes my brother, title agencies, lenders, roofers and handymen.
I hear some people think that real estate agents don’t work very hard and get paid a lot, that’s not true. It’s quite the opposite. It can be very challenging to find clients, and when we do, we are constantly going above and beyond to satisfy their needs because that’s our priority.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One year for Christmas my parents got me a red tent. They set it up in our living room. When I came downstairs and saw it, I ran over and started unzipping it. My dad happened to be inside hiding so when the flap fell open, he jumped out and scared me. I remember being so excited for the tent and because my dad (even though he was almost too big for it) slept in it with me outside that night.
