Check Out Dave Semans’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Semans

Dave, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began playing guitar in high school with Rock Star dreams. After 2 years of college I decided to give the music career a try. I moved to Denton in 1998 and did my degree in Jazz performance at UNT but my heart is full of Rock N Roll. I’ve been performing as a full time rock artist in Dallas Ft Worth ever since.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been difficult to grow as an artist and have a family. One of the hardest parts has been learning personal finance, the music business and maturing enough to understand that when I perform I am doing a job even though everyone around me is enjoying recreation. The music business is full of unhealthy distractions that can damage your personal life and relationships. It takes focus and intentionality to stay on track.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a full time Rock N Roll performer. I specialize in tribute bands, solo acoustic performances and singing telegrams. I feel what sets me apart is my sincere enjoyment of the music I play as well as the joy of sharing the experience with the audience. What I am most proud of is how Jesus has worked in and through my life. I have a beautiful wife, children, my health, my home and financial stability. I have all of this while doing what I truly enjoy. I am truly grateful and I feel like that is rare.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
During Covid I spent a lot of time studying personal finance with my wife. We have learned to be content with the blessings we have while being intentional with our finances. The More of Less by Joshua Becker, Set For Life by Scott Trench, Early Retirement Extreme by Jacob Fiskar and Baby Steps Millionaires by Dave Ramsey are great resources.
