Rising Stars: Meet Esmeilys Suarez of Dallas, Tx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Esmeilys Suarez

Esmeilys, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my journey as a psychologist in Venezuela, where I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in clinical psychology. For several years, I worked in the field, providing therapy to both adults and children. Later, I moved to Colombia, where I lived for eight months. During that time, I worked as an English teacher for preschool and elementary school, and I also completed a diploma in learning methodologies. Afterward, I relocated to Dallas, Texas, where I’ve now been living for two years.

Initially, I shifted paths and began working as a nanny, a role that allowed me to stay connected to child development and well-being. Despite the change, I have remained connected to psychology through online therapy sessions, working with clients from various parts of the world. One of the most significant moments was organizing a workshop on autism and ADHD, which helped me reconnect with my passion for clinical psychology.

Over time, I’ve expanded my online presence, especially on social media, where I share insights on mental health, relationships, and personal growth. My content went viral, which allowed more people to access useful and practical psychological tools.

Today, I continue working as a nanny while also building my clinical practice online. I focus on making mental health support accessible through social media, workshops, and therapy sessions, blending my expertise in psychology with my desire to help people lead healthier lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. One of the biggest challenges has been adapting to a new culture and navigating the complexities of building a life in a different country. Language barriers and finding professional opportunities that align with my qualifications were significant hurdles initially.

Additionally, transitioning from working as a psychologist in Venezuela to a nanny in the U.S. was a tough adjustment. It took time to find a balance between my current role and my passion for psychology, and there were moments of self-doubt about whether I could effectively merge the two paths.

The emotional toll of leaving my home country and the uncertainty of starting over were also struggles I faced. However, each challenge has taught me valuable lessons about resilience and adaptability, ultimately shaping my journey and deepening my commitment to helping others.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
work as a clinical psychologist, specializing in online therapy for adults and children. My focus areas include mental health, relationship dynamics, and personal development. I am known for my empathetic approach and for providing practical, actionable tools that clients can apply in their daily lives.

One aspect I take pride in is my ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds, creating a safe and supportive environment for them to explore their challenges. I also find fulfillment in my workshops on topics like autism and ADHD, where I can share knowledge and empower others with valuable insights.

What sets me apart from others is my unique blend of experiences. Having worked as a teacher and a nanny, I bring a holistic perspective to my practice, especially when working with children and families. This background allows me to understand the developmental needs of children while also addressing the emotional and psychological aspects of parenting and relationships. Additionally, my active presence on social media allows me to reach a wider audience and share mental health resources, making therapy more accessible to those who may not have considered it before.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Absolutely! For those just starting out, my main advice is to be patient and kind to yourself. Building a career takes time, and it’s important to embrace the learning process. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or seek mentorship from those who have more experience. Networking can open doors you might not even consider.

Another key point is to stay true to your passion. It’s easy to get caught up in the pressures of the field, but focusing on what truly inspires you will help you maintain motivation and authenticity in your work.

I also wish I had known the importance of self-care from the beginning. The mental health field can be emotionally demanding, and prioritizing your well-being is crucial for sustaining your ability to help others.

Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of technology and social media. Embracing these tools can significantly expand your reach and allow you to connect with clients and colleagues in meaningful ways.
