Meet Amy Rogers of Sing Your Way Home, Music Therapy and Education

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Rogers.

Amy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Sing Your Way Home has been a lifelong dream of mine. I discovered a love for music early in life (beginning piano lessons at the age of 7), and after pursuing the perfect-fit of a career (music therapy), the dream was born to own my own business serving families through music therapy and music education services. Sing Your Way Home was born in 2009 and transitioned into an LLC in 2015. We opened our first office location in Bedford in August of 2016 and are enjoying serving a variety of businesses and families throughout the metroplex.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Owning a business while raising a young family is a challenge on many levels. It is very rewarding to see the growth, but the financial commitment is large in these expansion years. Balancing the work load and family time is a constant struggle for me, as I long to be a top-notch mother and wife, as well as professional in my career and supervisor to staff members and contract holders. I would not be this committed for any other career or avenue of service, but music therapy is such a wonderful avenue to provide unique and meaningful services, so it is worth the effort!

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sing Your Way Home: Music Therapy and Education story. Tell us more about the business.
Sing Your Way Home provides music therapy and music education services. Music therapy is the use of music to address non-musical goals, as provided by a board-certified music therapist. We offer both individual music therapy services and group music therapy services (both in our office and at other businesses-public schools special education departments, therapy centers, day programs, early childhood centers, etc.). We also offer music education services, such as piano/guitar lessons, adapted lessons (for special learners to learn to play instruments), and early childhood music groups for ages 0-5 years to participate in developmentally appropriate and beneficial music play with a parent/caregiver. We also have office space to rent to other professionals serving a similar client-base.

Our diligence in provide high-quality services, data-driven treatment plans, easy to understand monthly summaries of progress, and strong love for our families and clients set us apart.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not a believer in luck. I believe the Lord gives and takes away, and I give Him thanks and credit for both the good and bad that comes with it all.
