Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Brown

Hi Jade, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started doing hair at the age of maybe 7 or 8. Probably younger than that because I remember combing my Barbie dolls hair to the point where I popped the heads off the dolls body. My auntie actually gave my my first mannequin head because of that. I would watch my auntie do hair in my grandmothers house growing up. I would try to mimic what she was doing to her clients hair on my mannequin head. Then it went from mannequin heads to doing my sister’s hair, to doing my mom’s hair then friend’s in school. Before I moved to Dallas, I was living in Memphis and working at this nursing home and doing hair on the side. Once I moved to Dallas I slowly but surely built up my clientele. In 2018, after I moved to Dallas, God showed me making my own hair products. I don’t think too much on it until God kept waking me up in the middle of the night. He started showing me different ingredients to use. I started first making deep conditioner. I wanted something that not only could moisture your hair but a conditioner that would promote healthy hair growth. After seeing how my deep conditioner grew out my son’s hair I started researching ingredients for a hair oil. 2022 is when I started making hair oil. At first I only used it on my son’s and my hair but then my clients wanted me to use it on them. Then I had clients that wanted to buy my oil. If God would have told me that my life would be like this, I wouldn’t believe him. I would never imagine making and selling my own products and doing what I love to do and that’s doing hair.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey hasn’t been easy, but it was worth it. There’s been times we’re I would have a lot of clients to the point we’re I’m booked and there’s been times were I would pray that I would get a client just to make extra money. I’ve dealt with self doubt, not thinking I was good enough. I’ve dealt with fear of rejection. I would even lower my prices just so that I would have a client.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a 4th grade ELAR teacher. I love working with the youth. I love to see there smiling faces in the morning. I love the hugs. I love their laughter. I love seeing my students growth.

I would say I’m known for my height (I’m 4’9 1/2, my singing voice, and my personality.

I am a proud mother to a 5 year old boy. He is my rock. He is my motivation. Everything that I do is for him.

What sets me apart from others is that I am a caring and loving person. I’m passionate about my craft.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
