Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Rojas
Hi Tatiana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hi, my name is Tatiana Rojas and I’ve had a number of jobs working from coaching college softball to providing customer support for an online tech retailer however, after reflecting on my own life experiences I chose to pursue a career in the mental health field.
Throughout my childhood and into adolescences, I had several impactful experiences including experiences that helped me to realize the importance of processing and expressing emotions. I didn’t know it at the time but I came to realize that therapy could have helped me cope with life’s difficulties when I was younger.
After going to college and getting a degree in Bachelor’s in Psychology I realized the the possibility of being a support to others during their difficult time would likely be more realistic. While working a full time job and after exploring a few programs I decided it was time to go back to school and get my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. Spending several years and countless hours in the therapy room working with children, adolescence, adults, and families I finally became licensed in 2018.
I’ve always had a desire to open my own practice so that I could have a better work life balance and in May of 2022 my family and I took the leap of faith to step away from community mental health and pursue a private practice. I was able to launch Growth and Enlightenment Therapy Services, PLLC later that year and I have to say it’s been one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I’ve been able to support several individuals navigate various life stressors and difficulties. It has been through this work that I’ve discovered a passion in working with the perinatal mental health population. Having first hand experience as a mom of 2 I know it’s important to have support in all aspects of life.
As I continue to learn, grow, and develop, I’m excited for what the future holds not only personally but professionally. If there’s one thing that I’ve learned throughout the last several years is that I truly have a passion for the mental health field and for supporting others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road but I’ve learned that resources and research is key. Some of the struggles I’ve faced include not having a clear roadmap for launching a business. With all the education I received, there wasn’t much education provided about the business side of running a mental health private practice. It’s been a steep learning curve but I have found that there is always someone willing to help.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Growth and Enlightenment Therapy Services?
