Hi The Resale Shop, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The Resale Shop has been in existence for almost 20 years! The Resale Shop, located on Camp Bowie Blvd in Fort Worth, is a social enterprise of Center for Transforming Lives. This means all proceeds (minus business expenses) directly support the nonprofit. Center for Transforming Lives partners with single mothers and their children so they can thrive by offering housing support, early childhood education, economic mobility services, and clinical counseling. Our goal is to remove barriers for women and their families experiencing poverty with essential services that support financial and emotional well-being.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like every retail business, we have had our ups and downs. But the “ups” definitely outweigh the “downs.” We are always blown away by the generosity of our supporters who donate such quality items, as well as our volunteers who work so hard. Some of our volunteers have been with us since the doors opened in 2003, which is incredible! We have customers who also have been coming to our store since its inception, and we are so thankful for their continued trust and support.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Resale Shop. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Resale Shop keeps quality high and prices low so that our customers can always find what they need at an affordable price, and that is what we are most proud of! You can find anything from a vintage mug to a pair of designer shoes to an affordable side table. We carry men, women and children’s clothing, shoes and accessories, housewares, furniture, art, and so much more. As a social enterprise of Center for Transforming Lives, every donation and purchase benefit programs for women and children experiencing poverty and homelessness. These essential services – safe housing, early childhood education, counseling to address trauma and economic mobility services – break the cycle of poverty so mothers and their children can thrive. Thriving families create a vibrant community. Our store is mostly staffed by volunteers, and we are always looking for volunteers to help us run the store. What matters most to you? Why?
The Resale Shop is more than just a thrift store—it’s a community of incredible people. We love getting to know our customers personally. Some customers we’ve known for decades, we’ve watched each other’s children grow up and have supported each other through life’s hard times. We also want each and every customer who walks through our doors to know that the purchases they make support a truly remarkable cause and do so much good for our community. All of our proceeds benefit Center for Transforming Lives’ mission and we are incredibly proud to partner with them.
