Check Out Meredith May’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith May

Hi Meredith, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Color Wonder Balloons was born officially in May of 2022 out of a desire to help others celebrate well. As a former corporate events planner I desired to have more time with my young family and wanted to create things that made others have less stress when celebrating life’s milestone moments. I started with a pack of balloons and an online training class. While it took a while to find my footing in the life of entrepreneurship and I am still learning loads today I found a love for my community and a way to serve others in a fun and practical way. This business which started in my guestroom has grown into opportunities where I decorate for family parties, Run Celina races, Town of Prosper community events, grand openings for local businesses, and City of Celina Gift Tour. While I still operate out of my house I am grateful to be able to pick-up my kids from school and not have to be on the road traveling for work. While I do not know where the Lord will lead this business I am grateful for what He has provided thus far and for the ability to meet so many wonderful community members and businesses and celebrate them all along the way. I am grateful to serve my community and I am always here for the party!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anything new comes with it’s own set of risks, like learning how to handle taxes and bookkeeping and all the legal jargon that comes with running a business. It has its challenges like navigating unpredictable weather, broken equipment, not listening to the naysayers in your own gut, and generally learning how to navigate owning something without it owning your life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I handle balloon decor for events and love to specialize in life-size balloon sculptures. Basically real life items that I can make out of balloons. I am proud of myself for learning everything from scratch and pouring time into practicing to create things that people truly love and are not able to create themselves. In addition, none of my products come from Amazon so they last and are extremely high quality.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I learned that quality time with those you love can never be replaced by anything else. At the end of the day, while I am incredibly thankful for Color Wonder Balloons, if I can’t love God and serve my family well then the rest really does not amount to much.
